Hi all! I should have asked this question sooner because I have a meeting this morning with my manager about this. For B2B SaaS community managers: What does your onboarding process look like for the customer after sale? Are you introduced during implementation or after customer is launched? Currently I have to go through our customer success managers for a intro with the customer and get their contacts to include them into my lists and invite them to events and online community. I feel like I should have several touchpoints before the customer success managers so that the customer knows that community is available to them during the implementation process. CSMs are usually intro'd after launch. Just want to know what everyone else's customer journeys look like for their B2B SaaS.

Hey @channel! Currently, the most popular CH member benefit is the private peer groups (called pods), where we organise small curated meetups for members within the same sector or working on similar challenges. Please vote for the groups you'd like to be added to so you can be notified about upcoming sessions! Pods marked as 'Pending' will be created if there is enough interest generated.

Hey everyone - is there anyone here who has experience in running virtual events that would be game to chat about their experience? We're considering bringing someone onboard to help us run weekly (or more frequent) virtual events like speaker events, workshops, etc. so I'd love to learn about how different people have approached the role in order to scope the job properly. If you've been an events manager and/or a big chunk of your community role has been working on events, I'd really appreciate the oppty to chat!

Hello @channel I’m keen to hear what’s worked for you all in engaging your members to create a lively digital discussion forum. We have been using Slack & will continue to do so (after a great deal of chin stroking over this, we felt the switching costs for new platform are simply too great, and all of our members use Slack at work regularly, so we’re meeting them where they are. Also, our invite-only community has no need for monetizing anything & no e-learning content; all of our programming is live). What are your top tips for going from zero to 100 on your discussion forum??

HappyMonday, everyone! At InsideOut, we are planning to redesign our Slack community channels entirely in the coming weeks. I’d love to know what channels you all think are nonnegotiable for great engagement, regardless of community type. What are must have channels in Slack, specifically? (FWIW, we are an invite only community of senior in-house design leaders around the U.S. So we must have a handful of city-chapter channels. But we are also trying to provide members with a sense of our national community that’s wider than just their local city groups.) What channels should we be considering to boost engagement for the whole community?

Hey everyone! I just started a new role yesterday (🎉) and I'm getting ready to set initial one on ones with folks on my team and across the company to start to get to know people and assess the current situation with community. What questions would you ask in these initial meetings to get the best sense of what's happening at a new (to you) company?

What is your workaround for the free version's 90-day messaging/history cap -- when building communities in Slack (that will continue to grow) Main issue I worry about is searching. If someone is looking for answers on something specific within Slack, it will only pull from recent 90-days. Such a bummer.

Hi all! Sort of embarrassing ask but I need to ask it...Any example templates of "Guidelines" in the community? I've been having some community members not honoring proper etiquette either because they are not knowing it or because they're new to using communities for their needs. Would love to see what you all have put out there.

I have another ask. What metrics do you all present to your stakeholders that show positive outcomes that community contributes to the business? I was tasked to create an internal doc of my role in community and how I can shine a light on it by adding items in there that other execs (in charge of budget to add more team members or similar members) want to see. Two things I already see are: 1) Increase in registrations and attendance to customer meetups (engagement) 2) a show of loyalty -- see the correlation between churn and drop off in community or upsells and renewals to attendance in community. Any thoughts?

Ideally, these folks work or have experience at consumer tech companies. LMK if you have worked with any professionals or heard these sorts of folks speak!

Is anyone great with Airtable formulas? I need help with an events table displaying dates & times. • I have a DATE column ("Date & Time") also including TIME in a 12-hr format • I have a DURATION column ("Duration") • I set up an automation from Airtable to Slack when a new event is created, but the Date & Time displays weird (supposed to be "2/21/2023, 1:00pm" but comes out as "2023-02-21T180000.000Z") • I want to create a new FORMULA column that pulls info from DATE and DURATION that displays info as "Feb 21, 1-2pm ET". ◦ I have been troubleshooting with ChatGPT and it's not working • Maybe I could just update it to be a text-based column, but I have it connected to a Google Calendar and would love to keep it that way

Does anyone know what is the right way to get the exact URL for a person's Slack DM within a Slack like this one (i.e. the link that will take you right to their profile so you can message them)? I have been given two pieces of advice: 1. Take the member's Member ID and add it to the end of the URL for this private Slack 2. Right click on the member's DM and click Copy>Copy Link Each of these gives a different result and I can't figure out which is the correct one.

Has anyone here thrown a mid-sized conference (i.e. 500-1000 attendees, multiple days)? If so, how did you think through choosing a city / venue, selecting speakers, and getting sponsors? My community has been mainly virtual but we're experimenting with in-person formats. After a couple of small half-day conferences that were relatively successful, we're trying to learn how to scale up

Has anyone hosted retreats for 15-20 people at any amazing venues in the US? Looking for somewhere a bit remote, almost “glamping” vibes where founders can uplug and be fully present in the retreat. Would love any recommendations, (doesn’t need to be the glamping vibes). Thank you!!

Hey guys, has anyone tried using Mattermost as their community platform? It's an open source Slack alternative and has a pricing model that doesn't scale with your members. This has been around for a while and I'm curious why it's not more popular for hosting communities.

So @Alyson Stemas suggested that we should have a space to have open discussions about the hardest parts of community that people don't often talk about. We are planning on hosting a short, initial 60-minute meetup next week. Some of the topics we are considering discussing are below: • Can a community be exclusive and inclusive at the same time? • Is there a right way to allow self promotion in a community? • What is the right way for a community respond to local, global, social, and political conflict? • Community leaders are often overwhelmed with feedback from community members, but it seems like the only solution, so how do you scale a community and responding to feedback? • How does one make community DEI metrics that aren’t tokenizing nor performative? Who here might be interested in that?

Folks if you have any, im seeking some examples of best practices or guides that you have trusted in the past for these two specific types of content: 1. case studies/success storiers and 2. webinars Thank you for any and all resources you share in advance! 🙌
