Will R2 allow you to pick which region you want to upload data first? Is their a rough list of locations you can host the data?

I can't imagine a world where R2 will not allow you to pick where to store your data, but I have no idea if that will be in the first iteration and what locations that would be if it is.

But I am pretty sure it would map very closely to the DO ones..

The problem is I have 100GB+ blobs that I make range requests to. So I would assume that it would be better for cloudflare if I make duplicates myself because it seems unreasonable to make full duplicates to multiple databases without charging (unless it charges for duplication?) But if you can opt-in for the service it would be cool to make duplicates myself as necessary. Hopefully this makes sense.

A lot of this stuff will sort itself out over say the coming year or so.. This is a Cloudflare product. It will start out with the basics done well, but not much else.. and then it will just get better over time..

Ooo, this looks like an awesome product R2 + workers + kv = dynamic watermarking with tracking at the edge?

By the way, does anyone know the approximate price per GB of space that will be after the release?

Pricing hasn't been released but my estimate will be more expensive than Wasabi, Cheaper than S3 with Bandwidth

pretty small, so I hope that it will not change and after the release I will go to the CF

Is it possible to enter the beta test if I only need 20-20GB of space or do I need at least 1TB?

Right now the beta's mostly for large enterprises I would guess, but feel free to apply and see what happens!

Ah figues based on the questions it would be big business first. It would be cool to be accepted though, we’re building an app using pages and workers, we were hoping to build with R2, but I think we’ll be forced to use aws S3 for now. Do you have an estimate for when the beta will go wider?

No idea, but I'd estimate at least a few months. I would stick with S3 for now, since R2 will have seamless migration from S3 and an S3-compatible API so it'll be easy to switch over when the time comes.

not sure if this is intentional or not but the r2 page on the dashboard is accessible to non-beta users via the
    /{account.id}/workers/r2
    path but its non-functional

These workers executions will be billed or it's included in the storage price?

Full pricing details aren't live yet, but I would guess it would work similarly to how KV does in that you'll pay for the workers executions. The workers might be doing all kinds of other things, so I imagine it'll work just like a KV binding does within a worker today.

Ouch! In our case, small JSON files, that means it would be pricey than B2 ($0.005/GB) plus G-Core (€2.5/TB) or AH ($2.5/TB) or Bunny ($5/TB), for larger media files R2 will be awesome!

I'd definitely wait until pricing and everything is all public before writing it off! 🙂 There'll be lots of things to explore, and I imagine many folks will be trying it out and comparing against other solutions.

Let's hope audio and video will be allowed, that will be its strongest point against the competition: fixed price per request
