It's had S3 for a long time. You can now use SigV4 which was the primary blocker

There's an issue specifically for it but they've got it down as a S3 remote anyways

with s3 compatibility, rclone doesn't need to do anything to support it 🙂

Bit confused about the S3 API; does that mean S3 direct API, like that could be used via CURL, or is the S3 API referring to the S3 transfer-on-GET feature?

from what i understand, there will be a direct S3 api, as well as the feature

and rclone would use the direct api

R2 has similar limits to S3: ~5TB files, ~5GB max per request. * This is only really accessible via the S3 API currently. * The APIv4 API (which the UI uses) only supports 300MB and doesn't have multipart (which is how the S3 API gets to 5TB). * The bindings API technically supports it but you'll have to get your account manager to enable unbuffered upload and bump up the max limitation for the zone for your R2 worker (has nothing to do with R2).

We're talking about the direct API via CURL/rclone. transfer-on-get isn't available yet.

Next question for you, is something similar to AWS's public-read planned? Any idea for the timeline of that?

I have observed an issue where I can't get the full 5GB per request via the S3 API. This is a known issue but it's lower priority at the moment (I managed to get ~3GB which implies ~3TB for multipart). Let me know if this is a blocker for you.

Will you be able to see the FS structure of all your files in a given bucket on the dashboard?

Or can you only store files and not create folders?

(or is it like S3 with a key-based thing?)
