https://github.com/rsms/inter/discussions/549#discussioncomment-5535764 where we should we instead be edge caching our css, js and font files?

cloudflare explicitly allowing caching of html, but by default doesn't cache them. and not allowing css and js but caching them by default seems odd

The TOS calls out specifically "disproportionate percentage of pictures, audio files, or other non-HTML content is prohibited". So if you're just using JS, CSS, images, etc. on your own websites, you're almost certainly going to be fine. If you're doing a huge amount of traffic to those font (etc.) files directly - essentially using the CDN as a file store - and not via your website, that's when you're likely to hit throttles.

But if you wanted to do a file store and just pay for the usage, that's what KV and R2 are great for 🙂

(note that this is ok to be done with our storage, putting them in R2 for example and serving is fine)

Hello everyone, I have an employee connected to my website. but when my website is attacked, these employees are very affected. How can I integrate the managed challange rule applied to some countries that I created with Cloudflare in front of my worker. I apologise for my bad English, I want to explain it to you with my perfect drawing. I want the 2nd situation to happen

think the traffic is coming from almost exclusively websites, not directly as a file store. what's the issue?

just feel scared now hosting my assets with cloudflare. the services spell it out that we cannot, it's tolerated but not allowed.

    04/05/2023, 9:33 PM
so again, what is cloudflare recommended solution for statically hosted assets?
  • j

    James

    04/05/2023, 9:34 PM
well, not really. The traffic is from other websites, so proportionally, that zone is serving way more file content than it is html content

r2 or kv are specifically file stores that you can use and pay for usage in storage, reqs, etc.

i have a zone that makes 7 json api calls i cache using a worker. so for every 1 html, there are 7 json documents. does that break the terms of services as well?
  • m

    marais

    04/05/2023, 9:35 PM
but if you turn on edge caching for those, you're breaking the terms again?

    04/05/2023, 9:36 PM
no, cache is fine with r2, etc. ref: https://discord.com/channels/595317990191398933/940663374377783388/1079063747726950400

realistically, if you're concerned about your usage, I'd recommend you reach out to your account team and explain your use-case and get them to clarify/provide insight. These kind of situations are outliers
