    For anyone contemplating this - I just did an in-place upgrade of a Windows 2012R2 server (running ColdFusion 2018 Standard) to Windows 2019 server. Upgraded smoothly. I just had to manually start the ColdFusion service the first time (service was set to Automatic, but didn't start for some reason). I also rebuilt the IIS connector just in case.

    Since @Mark Takata (Adobe) is absolutely killing it 🙂 just wanted to surface two tickets by @lmajano from the bug tracker, regarding passing jar paths to
    createObject
    - the first was from 2013 and marked as "To Fix" 🤯 - it's been a long time, but it'd still be really useful: • https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/CF-3592789 • https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/CF-4087803

    For all the folks interested in The Adobe ColdFusion Builder for VS Code extension (phew, what a name) make SURE you sign up for Dev Week and watch Ketki & Nikhil (two of the vast team of engineers that worked on it) give you the low-down: https://adobe-coldfusion-devweek-2022.attendease.com/registration/form

    Has anyone made this observation:

    https://i2.paste.pics/3cbc70d16765f4b3873cc73bdaad4055.png▾

    That really really looks like a button. But it's... erm... not. Why did you style it that way? I mean if I scroll waaaay below the fold, I see the form is actually on that very page, and indeed there's a text `[Register]`link right below the button, and that takes me down to the form. Cool. But the biggest clearest thing that is offering the main call to action on that page is just decoration.

    Hey CFML fans! It is that time of year again where I get to convince Adobe that they are making the correct decision to keep paying me money to muck around here and elsewhere talking about the merits of our particular flavor of your favorite programming language (and mine!) As I've said before, being an evangelist is a tricky thing, as mostly the metrics are "the community isn't actively hunting us with pitchforks" and so I depend on the good word of my customers and other CFML practitioners here to keep my rent paid & the beers flowing. If you are someone who I have helped in the last year, and wish to put in a good word with the leadership & management to whom I report to, please feel free to send me an email at takata@adobe.com which I will forward (en masse) to my manager as one of the metrics (community support & morale) which will be used to grade me on my work for the past quarter. If you do not feel comfortable sending this to me directly, please DM me here and I will provide a direct email for my manager. My official review/check-in is at the beginning of July, so we've got a bit of time to get stuff in. BIG IMPORTANT NOTE: No, I'm not being fired or whatever, this is just the life and times of an evangelist in literally any company. To leadership it can sometimes seem like I spend my days joking around with people on Slack or ranting on Twitch about JavaScript date functions, but hopefully you all know I do a lot more than that (I also share cookie recipes, obviously). 🙂

    I dare say you're not actively chasing new business when it comes to Adobe CF ? so many of us who are still on the Adobe CF bandwagon have probably been on it for some time now, yet we're treated like we're not the life blood of CF and if I'm honest, doesn't do faith in the platform from myself or the organisation I work with, where I continue to promote the use of CF from within.

    Mark, have you reached out to organisations that still actively use CF outside of the US or social media platforms, we provide software based on a CF stack to over 300+ organisations and the first time we've heard from Adobe in years is because our enterprise contract renewal was coming up, and we've been using CF for 18 years+

    we're all guessing at some point Adobe is going to decide CF isn't making enough money for the organisation and put it into maintenance only, and at such time will it become an apache project ( like flex ? ) or is there too much internal IP to do so? seemingly Adobe have scaled back CF staffing / community involvement over several years, what does this all do for people who continue to invest in the platform ?

    same here in Europe. I've been bugging Adobe that they need to do at least something for the European market and I offered help to organize things, but the only thing that happened here in Germany was a CF Breakfast some 5 or 6 years ago... which was not promoted at all. 😞

    Hey, @Mark Takata (Adobe). The marketing emails from Adobe have a doubly-broken unsubscribe system. The language is:
    This is an advertising message from Adobe Inc., its affiliates, and agents ("Adobe"), 345 Park Avenue, San Jose, CA 95110 USA. If you prefer not to receive email like this from Adobe, click here to unsubscribe or send an email to unsubscribe-na@adobesystems.com. Alternatively, you may mail your unsubscribe request to:
    The "click here" is linked to mailto:unsubscribe-na@adobesystems.com, as is the visible email address. The "click here" should be a link to an instant, web-based unsubscribe function (like on every other mailing list). Then, the kicker is that if you actually email unsubscribe-na@adobesystems.com, your email will bounce:
    Message not delivered
    There was a problem delivering your message to unsubscribe-na@adobesystems.com. See the technical details below.

    Many years ago, my team worked on a code coverage tool our CF application. We essentially shoved the stack dump for every request into Mongo, then ran some queries that told us a list of all CFM and CFC files and functions had been called across the whole dang thing. Has anyone worked on something of this sort that could be shared? Or does anyone know of a tool that provides this information for a CFML application?

    Help! I just installed CF-2021 on my desktop for development purposes. Prior to installing, I created a deployment package of the datasources from my CF-2016 version I had running, then uninstalled CF-2016. After installing CF-2021, I select the deployment CAR, click Deploy and nothing happens. I can explore the CAR contents and see the datasources, but the deploy does nothing. I've tried restarting the CF service, no joy. What am I missing?

    could someone with ACF 2016 on Linux please verify the following behaviour with
    expandPath()
    ?
    Copy code
    <cfoutput>
       expandPath( '/some-dir/' ): #expandPath( '/some-dir/' )#
    </cfoutput>
    If
    some-dir
    contains an
    index.cfm
    , the output is
    /var/www/some-dir/index.cfm/
    This happens only on ACF on Linux (with on a native install and within a Docker container. It does NOT happen on CommandBox servers though. (So possibly it does not happen on WAR installs?) I'd just like to find out if this is something in ACF or maybe related to your system setup.

    Is there a setting that disables access to the 'THIS' scope from the Application.cfc in other pages in CFAdmin or something? My dev version of CF21 allows me to dump it on a regular cfm page, for example, but it isn't accessible on our new CF21 test server.

    Hi everyone! Perhaps this isn’t the best place to ask, but I’m hopeful someone can point me in the right direction (either to an answer or to someone to contact). My employer had a purchase order for $1,995 titled “ColdFusion Enterprise Plan Renewal.” Our Finance department told us, “Unfortunately adobe is no longer supporting upgrade or renewal plans for these products so we cannot process the PO.” I am the primary ColdFusion developer, but I was asked to investigate this following the departure of our primary purchase manager. To me, this reads less that Adobe is no longer supporting upgrade or renewal plans for ColdFusion (as our Finance team implies), but moreso that our method for maintaining our license is no longer valid (maybe we purchased from a vendor or something that no longer sells licenses)? Either way, I thought I’d put this question here—it sounds like we need to renew our license(s) for our three ColdFusion servers (I’m not even sure when they expire).

    “Error Executing Database Query. [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]An SSL socket connection could not be established because JRE 1.4 or above is required.” started happening today on a CF2021 server on Windows Server 2019. Is this error popping out of nowhere for some people? I made a code change Friday morning and things were working fine. I did enable secure cookies in the admin, but I don’t think that should have affected anything, obviously. I saw a couple very recent blog posts about the issue. Anyone else experience this?

    ***** LISTEN UP ****** The time is nearly here. If you are interested in being a part of the the closed beta program for the Adobe ColdFusion Builder Extension for VS Code, we are collecting emails of interested users. Here is the timeline: 1. We are starting with a very small closed beta just to shake any lingering bugs out. This is happening over the weekend. 2. Once we feel comfortable, users who have signed up for this beta (form link below) will slowly begin getting invites for a pre-release forum dedicated to the full closed beta program. This is likely to occur early to mid next week. We need people who are fired up, willing to put in time testing and provide us with solid, informative feedback. The full, open launch of the product is coming shortly after Dev Week but this is your opportunity to get a chance to see it early, test it and help us make it as awesome as possible. Please note: There may be bugs. This should not be used in production during the time of the beta testing. I shouldn't have to tell you that lol. But here we are. I use this tool already in my day to day. But your workflow might be different. We will be adding people slowly, so if you don't get an email early next week, just give it a moment. The earlier you sign up, the more likely you get in. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=Wht7-jR7h0OUrtLBeN7O4VmPZrcheetIstWzdVorFtxURjVKSE5KNFZSSzg4MzdHUzRaOTZBQ1Q3SS4u LFG!!!!!!!!! 🙂
