Hello. I was looking into making my updates smaller and saw there is support for chunkah. From what I understand, the cost is longer build times and more space used during builds. Is there anything else I should be concerned about before enabling this? I was curious why it isn’t enabled by default.

Chunkah is quite a bit faster than previous rechunkers; in my experience, it only adds a couple minutes to the build time. In terms of space used, you'll probably need an additional 2-3 times the size of the image in available space to account for the fact that there will be multiple copies of the image present at various points in the rechunking process
on github actions runners, this isn't generally a problem unless your image is quite large

The benefits seem worth it to me. Update delta reduced from 800MB to 250MB. It did add a few minutes to the build time, but that's okay. Thanks

Yeah ideally once you have what you want locked in, it just builds in the background and you get updates from it
