@Kaaihn , I can see it was you who answered my question about tally and equipment. 🤣

The rules around item timing are not well done, imo. Parts are scattered around multiple places across multiple books and you have to gather them all and then consult yet another section to determine order of operations to be able to clearly answer these questions. Even then, as written you can’t clearly answer some things

Like whether the epilogue counts as during story again. I wouldn’t think so, since a chapter is broken into phases and I don’t think it’s intended for phases to stop and restart

For what it’s worth, I despise derailing gameplay for rules lawyering. We just take our best guess at intended rules and do that. The figuring out the right nuance can be when we aren’t playing

If epilogue is story, we’re absolutely going to be backpacking and character swapping as many as needed to fill the bag for the free income every chapter. I don’t believe that’s intended though, so not doing it unless I officially hear that’s ok

And if someone wants to restart an encounter with another setup, why/what prevent them from that?

Rule or not, it is all about having fun.

Oh I could see that being intended. They are already giving you bonuses to try to succeed again. It could absolutely be intended that if you are trying again you have to try with the same characters and items

But Tonzin has clarified that item swap for a replay is ok, so that’s fine

Oh reading this just realized… last 2 or 3 chapters I forgot entirely about the determination rule!! šŸ˜‚ hahah self inflicted hard mode? We all still made it out alive… but remember a few of those attacks you use empowers and two rerolls as it’s so important and damns you still miss and all my tokens where gone…. šŸ˜–šŸ˜

Yup, it's a pretty important part of the game. You can do just fine without it but you are far more cautious when it doesn't exist. I played without the determination rule a lot during testing.

Yes fight was harder as I ran out of tokens and Priest’s job for a while was producing them for me to have them for bigger attacks. But it still worked without it. Makes game easier alright. Cautious yes - slower to dish out damage, had to take more care of my hp

Hey, if the rewards say " the oathsworn get 1 iron for ..." does it mean every oathsworn or the Group gets one Iron? Thanks in advance

Doublechecking something… an ability card that says Knockback, if the attack portion breaks a location, I don’t do the knockback do I?

I think it specifies if it is a group or just total. I would like to say the game does both.

An ability that is Knockback, if the attack misses do I still do the knockback?

i just want to clarify if i did this correctly: I knocked the broodmother back 1 space, (from her original starting position) colliding with 2 giant rats and a tree. Since she hit an obstacle, we did NOT move her back a tile because the rulebook says to keep the figure 1 space away from an obstacle. We did however, remove the tree that she destroyed, and dealt 1 dmg to each of the giant rats killing them both. To the broodmother, we then dealt her 3 points of dmg to her rear die - 1 for the tree and 1 for each of hte 2 rats. was this the correct way to play it?

    seems correct

the only thing that sounds off there is taking 3 dmg off the broodmother right off the bat seems a bit OP

but after having played through that scenario 6-7 times now, that was the first time we did that... and it definitely made the whole thing a ot easier... as the very first turn she lost 3 dmg right away

Yeah, if you just want to get 1 damage for things that do damage when a hit happens... it can work. I've asked. But, you'll have a real hard time doing much damage to anything with armor. šŸ˜›

yeh but often enough you just need to do very little dmg, it is much better not to miss when you have alot of bonus dmg, like playing witch

Hmm, maybe I’ve been cheating myself on knockback. In this pic, warbear knocks broodmother back one space. Since that tree is there, she doesn’t actually move. We’ve been playing it that she wouldnt actually land on those rats since she stays in her space, so they don’t get squished. One damage to broodmother from the tree, remove tree, that’s it. Should that be 3 to broodmother, remove tree, and remove those 2 rats instead?
