A lot of that happening in Chapter 4. We ended up doing a REALLY big loop.

I was also so lucky going in a totally wrong direction.

100% we didn't build the board right either 🤣 But we did pretty good. After we figured out where we were with the first waystone we just kept trying to get to verun or however you spell it

Really amazed how many different elements there are in this game. Played the story last night and this one taught me a harsh lessons - I invested quite a bit to save as many civilians in chapter 3 as possible but had to cut rations so only about half of them made in through the deepwood 😬 now to paint the barbarians, that will probably take me at least a week.

We made it through the Deepwood quickly and efficiently. I think we got to the encounter around turn 11 or 12? Unfortunately our rolls sucked. We got ambushed and are 4/4/5/5 hps. This makes it 2/2 on stories that even though we got through efficiently we were ambushed. Other 2x we weren't ambushed but took us a while. I hope this trend doesn't continue.

I am at chapter 4 now and have been ambushed only once in chapter 2 when my Oathsworn wanted to rescue the kid and that definitely turned out to be the wrong strategy. There the ambush made sense story wise

Yeah we didn’t keep the tiles down because I thought it was supposed to look like the ap. We went around in circles until the end to the time track because we didn’t know we were revisiting tiles. We ended up just quickly replaying it using what we did up until we starting walking in circles at one of the map edges.

Had the same issue. We still managed to finish with the extra Unique item, but it was a rough journey.

Yep that looks like a nightmare, but at least you kept building a map šŸ˜‚. It would be nice to have a note in the rules ā€œdo not remove tiles after movingā€ and ā€œyour previous and new locations are adjacent tiles (maybe unless otherwise noted).ā€

Interesting to see how you created the map. I am not sure what to make of this haha. My initial thought was that you moved a direction and placed a new set of 5 tiles...but that isn't true. The way your map is built, your Oathsworn were moving 2 spaces instead of 1.

So, the way I read the instructions, and saw the pictures in the journal and app, I thought every move was supposed to look like it was displayed. Oathsworn token in the center, and then 4 cards around that, with 1 usually being the one you came from. That's how we ended up with this grid style placement.

So each move was from center piece to center piece.

Playing Encounter 4 the morrow after a solid 3 week break, pretty damn excited. Hopefully get some juicy photies in. Are there any particularly fiddly rules/issues that peeps encountered that didn't come up before? Am a lil unsure as to how we'll resolve stage card reactions when the first location is broken/enemy exile killed because a pure multiple boss encounter hasn't happened yet. Don't wanna be pouring over the rulebook for technicalities all night but perhaps am already overthinking things!

The FAQ has a pretty good summary of managing the multiboss issue. Here it is: Q. If I am fighting a pack of bosses and I remove the last HP from multiple bosses what happens? A. First remove all bosses with no remaining HP dice from the board. If the attack would remove all bosses from the board leave the most North then Western boss on the board. Perform a number of reactions equal to the HP die that were broken (-1 if all were broken as the last die does not trigger a reaction). The reactions are performed by the surviving boss/bosses. Only bosses directly damaged by the attack will focus target the die breaker, all others will attack using thier normal targeting rules. Perform all steps that you can on each stage car and skip any that you can't.

Pay careful attention to who is getting targeted. If it’s a reaction the primary target is the one who removed the die as usual. It gets odd because there is a rule that they target civilians but several stage cards and the board itself have exceptions. It shouldn’t be too fiddly though.

There's only one reaction that can target the die breaker as there's only one boss with multiple dice

Are you sure? The cards call out primary targets for specific models. Pretty sure those targets have to be the ones that break the dice if those specific models are still on the board.

Only the chief can target a die breaker. The rest will do whatever it says on the stage card.

That doesn't sound correct. The cards call out a primary target. The primary target should be who breaks the die, assuming the models in question are still alive.nfor instance, in Stage 1, there are a lot of cards for the berserkers. If you kill the blood shaman, the berserkers should target the character that killed the shaman.

He’s actually right. We were spread out enough that it barely mattered but on the BGG FAQ it’s only reactions by the character on the Oathsworn that damaged that character. Everyone reacts but they target normally instead of focusing on the character that killed one of their buddies.

Bit of a puzzle of movement there, had tae do some tactical blocking. Great skirmish though, made it out all in one piece. My Blade and Huntress got pinned early doors so couldn't move for a spell; however Huntress Flight of Feathers managed to take out 2 exiles in one turn, then cascade to a 3rd outta pure reaction card luck (Shamen, though will have tae reread that healing card 😬).
