What is directly away when there's not a straight line between them?

There is an example in the rulebook about moving directly away when an obstacle is in the path. Let me see if I can find it

Will the enemy attempt to get "back" to that straight line?

    Yes

Yes. It's on Page 20 of the encounter rulebook. There is a diagram of the rat minion trying to move directly away and navigating around a house.

That's essentially the same logic you'll use in the situation you mentioned even if there isn't an obstacle in the way

Alright, I'll keep that in mind for next time

I believe you would take Northern/Western most of the 2 possible directions. Kind of like knockback

If enemy is adjacent and have to move SE with an obstacle blocking the first step on the way, should it then go south?
  • t

It'll follow the rule of North and West while picking the path that gets it closest to going SE.

Thought so. It just seems wrong to go north when it says you should move directly away. 🙂

Without seeing your map, I cannot say for sure what you should do, but generally speaking you will still be moving directly away, but when a tie between which path to take exists you'll use N&W ruling.

Can't remember how it was exactly. I will post when I get an example.

I just love my luck. One instance i shuffled red might deck with 5 blanks into first 7 cards.

And in a non-missable attack, both the red and blank was blank along with two white blank

Any others who have this kind of fun as well? 😆

That was too intense. Two full Oathsworn went unconscious and companions down to 1 and 2 hp

I really need to be better at targeting and clever use of battle flow.

In the chapter epilogue it says "these represent your new refugees". I should read as new refugees to the existing group from chapter 3, correct?
  • s

    skyflight

Otherwise, it would make all effort in chapter 3 as void.

    Yes, extra refugees

Already played this chapter but wondering if we played it right. For example when breaking a location and "Mutilate" comes out, Berserkers target Oathsworn, perform the action, will the rest of the tribe target their targets or will all of them try to move as close as possible to the character that broke the location and do mob attack? Will the whole effect from the stage card drawn due to breaking a location apply to the character breaking it or only the first part and then, ST will target their targets?

It is specified in rule book that it is only the damaged enemy that will target the character that broke the die. All other enemy pick a target as normally.

Now that I think about it, if a scar tribe dies, it is removed from the map, right? If it is, how will it target the character that broke the location?

Hey - question on "directly away" by the hook ability the berserker's do in Stage 1

is that just a straight line of hexes?

will they not move away if they can't move any direction in a straight line due to terrain?

The Encouter Rule Book has a section on "Moving Directly Away"
  • k

They will try to move directly away, and if something is in the way will take the shortest path around the obstacle to get back to their path
