And that could be dangerous if thats what it is as the PC might force workload off of a graphics card that isnt capable of it

I think it's more just that I have no real experience with python and all the things I need for the environment - I've installed more crap over the last 3 days lol - and I'm sure there are conflicts - inside conda I've asked it to list my gpus and it comes back and says I have none

I followed the directions on another discord where some folks have gotten it all working locally (in windows) and it comes back and says I have 0 gpus lol - and I do other deeplearning things no problem

and I'm curious how you were able to get your gpu to work with colab hosted locally - again, I think my problem is that I just don't know crap about python/programming - my last programming experience was Pascal back in like 1993 so... I'm not exactly current (nor did I ever want to be a programmer) - I just don't think I have the environment setup correctly and since I'm pretty much fumbling in the dark... someone says pip install this and I do it - no clue if it's correct or not, so, I think it comes down to extreme user error, whereas, all things being equal, the colab notebook works because it is for morons like me
