That is a much better way! I did not know that was possible. Thank you @User

Side question: How are the breadcrumbs on a Dendron published site mapped to the LeftNav table of contents? In this example, there isn't an indicator on the TOC for where this file can be found.

    Where is the
    Dendron / Topics
    section of the TOC?

I'm not sure I understand, this note is
    dendron.topics.images
, so the breadcrumbs show the titles of each parent,
    Dendron
    and
    Topics
    .

If you open the site, there is NO section of the table of contents called "Topics" https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/a91fd8da-6895-49fe-8164-a17acd8d9a17/

The table of contents is for the contents of this note. "Topics" is the parent of this note. If you go to "Topics", you can see "Images" listed in the children of "Topics"

By "Table of Contents" do you mean the tree menu on the left?

    Yes. LefNav TOC

I just expected to see at least a "Topics" section that matches the breadcrumbs
  • s

Aha, the Topic section is actually under "Reference" section.

Seems like the breadcrumb would be Dendron/Reference/Topics/images

Yeah I just noticed too. I know that they reorganized some of the nav bar to not include all links, it looks like "Images" doesn't show up because it was excluded. I'm not sure what the settings for this look like though

All good! Nothing to worry about. Thanks for peeking at it with me. Sanity check!

breadcrumb is hierarchy. left toc is customizable (we excluded topics from the toc because its a little overwhelming, rather we’ve grouped them by functional area in user guide)

@User , "Topics" is actually present in the TOC, its under "References". I just expected the breadcrumbs to be "Dendron/References/Topics/Images". Its actually the "Reference" section that is missing from the breadcrumbs.

yeah, there’s a mismatch between the toc and the breadcrumb right now because the breadcrumb is solely derived from the hierarchy. have some ideas around improving it but feature request with suggestions is definitely welcome 😇

Its really nice if the file in question is always highlighted in the TOC. Then you can see peer topics/sections to peruse.

I see... interesting. TOC is more or less decoupled from the breadcrumbs...

yep. the toc is a customizable view to showcase your notes

    Hey, Dendron recognises the vscode
    Rename
    and it should work like
    Dendron: Rename Note
    . See example video: https://www.loom.com/share/dcc2df8f598a463894278f9b5926a92e

    Ok! So
    Right Click/Rename
    VS Code native command =
    Rename Note
    Dendron command! Sweet!

is there a way to create presentations through dendron?
  • s

You can create presentations using Markdown something like https://da_doomer.gitlab.io/markdown-slides/#/4. I'm not sure how Dendron would interact / host in your use case.

You could create a "presentation" with Dendron in the form of a published site (infinite scrolling page, table of contents, media, etc)

In this the VSCode livestream vod, you'll notice @User using markdown presentation tools to present slides from within VSCode:

    https://youtu.be/dW6m4_O0qvQ▾

I'm not sure which add-on he's using, but you could try something like that.
