as is while still being able to create journal notes under different topics like

Ah! Here is something I just figured out - I had to clear out the value of

Daily Journal Domain

to enable

cmd+shift+i

to create per-topic journals.

Yeah this is where you’ll need to configure the journal behavior

However, I now lost ability to create

daily.journal.*

entries with shortcut

I think the docs can be clearer on it. I'll open a pull request for it. Thanks for your help.

I use

crtl+shift+i

for daily journals in daily.journsl.2021.04.05 and

ctrl+shift+j

for journal entries in other hierarchies like in your example and they work in parallel.

Yeah, you know what - this is the right answer for @User's initial question. I do the same thing but didn't realize it when Pogo asked the question - I think it should work out of the box without any additional config. You can't create custom shortcuts for different journal domains (other than daily journal) right now but that does seem interesting to be able to configure.

That looks like the default config right? How did you configure Cmd+Shift+J for creating journal entry under current topic? And Cmd+Shift+I for default journal?

Not sure if this is the default. If I recall correctly the relevant part is

dendron. defaultJournalAddBehaavior: childOfCurrent

. This makes journal entries become a child of the current note

This applies to "normal" entries which are created by ctrl+shift+j

According to the docs the default for defaultJohrnalAddBehavior would be childOfDomain which would place all journals under the namespace. E.g. if you're at prj.proj1.foo it will create prj.journal.2021.04.06 whereas my settings will create prj.proj1.foo.journal.2021. 04.06

I am not understanding how to create a scratch note even after watching the video on the wiki. I have the command to create "Journal Notes" but not "Scratch". Do I need to create the schema manually or some config?

Does anyone have any problems using funky characters in the filename? Spaces, æ, ø, å, and so on.. Even uppercase. The migration I did normalised filenames more than I really wanted

Doesn't crtl+shift+s work for you?

I'm using both uppercase characters and German umlauts without problem. I'm on Windows just in case. Does this help?
