Yeah, my workspaces have different themes but having different icons/hotkeys seem really interesting to make launching notes a friction-free experience.

Can I ask a non-dendron question for you guys since you're all working on VS Code? How difficult would it be to rip out this Typescript coded integrated terminal and just embed your actual terminal? and I mean that in the literal sense. This integrated terminal takes up so much room, the problems the linter pick up I have no idea why it can't just print that text to my real terminal instead. Why do I need some lousy typescript terminal that can't do 99% of the things an actual terminal is capable of doing? I can hide it and I do, but it's annoying to have to toggle over and over again just to see the problems section

AFAIK you can't. I typically run a separate terminal and keep the integrated one on the problems tab

LOL, when I discovered the integrated terminal, I stopped running PwSh externally... but 99% of my terminal use is git (I do everything except committing there)

before Dendron, my MD notes was 1 folder in a workspace of several... now I do keep it as it's own window... but different shortcuts would drive me nuts... one thing I found helpful is the Peacock extension, which changes the title bar & status bar (and action bar, but I turned that off) a different color for each workspace... I set my Dendron workspace to be Dendron green

Alright folks, I know a thing or two about VSCode and Dendron, but I don't know what I don't know, so any help would be appreciated! With the templating capabilities of Dendron, here's what I want to accomplish with my daily journal template: My problem: I have a python script. It reaches out to my company's Exchange server, queries my meetings for the day, and returns a JSON object. I parse this object and return my meetings for the day in formatted Markdown. What tools can I use to integrate this response into my daily template? The end result I'm looking for is that when I create a new daily journal my meetings are already added to the note. Some thoughts I've had: If script execution is something that can't currently happen in real-time, maybe I could decouple it by scheduling the script to run locally (at midnight) and dumping it into a temp file. Then somehow bring in this file during note creation? Double the inodes, but maybe easier to implement...

Not sure how this will integrate into the daily template, but some folks have discussed note creation via

dendron-cli

and is in the April 2021 roadmap. Once note creation is exposed to the cli I'm sure what you want could be done automatically.

Cntrl+L is not able to search the notes that are deep in the hierarchy example : learn.linux.commands.find.mtime.1minute I cannot search with 1minute . Is there a limit or configuration that can be changed?

iirc the fuzzy search in lookup is a bit acting up at the moment, and kevin is looking into tuning the fuzziness to work nicer.

just the buttons. the auto preview is an option that you can toggle

just want to make sure i understand the error then. when you say your templates appear unconnected, do you mean your notes or schemas? here's a case where a picture might be worth a dozen replies 😅

I found an example running in an old tab, with Chrome Tool I switched of mobile view as that shows since view in a regular page just takes up all the page. Here is what I was seeing:

I forgot to screenshot it before upgrading, but now the files aren't disconnected in the same way in the graph. It was showing two different files as single dots outside of the tree, with no lines connecting them to each other or to anything else. Both just said

, and when I clicked on either of them, Dendron opened up one of my notes with a name like

podcast.template.notes.md

or

talk.template.notes.md

. Although upgrading fixed the issue with them not being attached in the graph, now I'm running into a different but maybe related issue. I'd deleted

talk.template.notes.md

to see if deleting it & adding it back would fix that disconnect in the graph, and now I can't create a file again with that name using the lookup bar. Just submitted an issue for that on Github with the Dendron log. It's not urgent at all—I'm just letting you know before I forget!

What is the shortcut to take Dendron's suggestions when the create command starts to bring up your schema? I can tab to it but how do I complete it? enter just navigates to that note

Is it literally impossible to learn how to set up a git repository unless you're a computer scientist?

probably the most frustrating thing to try for 2 days to set up this tool to be able to push/pull from vs code. It's just some basic domain knowledge that everyone fails to mention to be able to set this stuff up. I am wondering - if someone has never used github is this tool even viable? all the tutorials seem to imply knowing how to use it.

thanks for the update - sometimes what happens is when you delete a file that has a child, a stub gets created (eg.

exists and you delete

foo

,

foo

gets turned into a stub). in that case, you'll need to select the stub instead of creating a new file. its an ugly ux thing that I need to get around to fixing 😅
