(last one for now) when I opened the enhanced preview in a non-Dendron workspace, it wouldn't render anything except a blank page... does that mean I need to keep my pre-Dendron Markdown extensions around & just disable them in my Dendron workspace? that would be awkward to have my notes experience be different from other Markdown

4. yeah, dendron requires a workspace to be open atm. we do have a roadmap item to make it work standalone but just haven't gotten to that yet

OK, thanks... I am going to keep playing with Dendron... my current system lacks wikilinks & tagging... Dendron lacks wiki-links working on the web... considering how I only use the web when I don't have access to my laptop or tablet, I think that's a better trade-off... being a 20+ year developer, I want to see how far I can get before scheduling an onboarding call (if I still need one at that point 🙂 ), so I might try some importing again with my markdownlint settings active, or wait for the active issue to be resolved

one more question... if, while I'm waiting for the issue with Doctor to be resolved, I wanted to disable auto-formatting by hacking the JS, is that possible? maybe by commenting out a couple of lines? I've been looking through the JS, I just can't find a format method (and yes, I know that whenever the VSCode extension or NPM package updates, my hack would be overwritten and need to be done again)... for me (and I know this is a bit OCD) if one of my note markdowns gets changed somewhere other than the front matter, either I made the change with my keyboard, or I've got my notes somewhere that's not compatible with my notes... I want to like Dendron, because I love what I see in the videos & documentation

what do you mean by auto-formatting?

changing my indentation, putting spaces between the * of my HRs... that's what I noticed right away, it only did a partial import (root folder & 1 subfolder) so I'm not sure if I'd find more on some of my online class note files

yes, that's in my recently used, so that was it... I know it needs to add the front matter, but I'm of the opinion it should leave the rest of the file untouched... same if I drag a file in and run "Doctor"

I'm thinking it's markdownlint doing the auto-formatting. can you try disabling markdownlint if you have it enabled?

and I just realized there's a minimized "extension.js" in there too, not just the source JS files, so my guess is even if I mucked with a JS file VSCode would never see it

I don't personally use markdownlint but it looks like it has a setting to fix all lint errors on save. maybe that's causing the issue?

I'm using it regularly and it hasn't changed any note the way @User describes but of course it may be a strange combination with other extensions or something similar

for import pod, I should be able to put a path to a folder of .md files into config.import.yml & it just work, right? I did that yesterday with a root folder & it pulled in 2 levels deep... now I'm giving it a subfolder & nothing (& the wife is calling me... will be AFK for 10 min)

the import pod works on the root folder. that being said, it should still run on subfolders as long as it has markdown in it. happy to take a look if you could provide more details (eg. the pod config)

interesting... it made me enter a folder... it does look like it skips large files (I have one that's almost 7k lines that the import skips, but otherwise it seems to work

but it reformats lists, even with markdownlink disabled... had one case where I had no second level bullet but went right to a 3rd level bullet (to match the prof's Word outline)... it took that tag and turned it into a code block with 3 `s 😦

yeah, importing a note currently also formats it. going to be updating both the doctor and the import code to update this behavior

I abandoned all my past notes when coming to Dendron so I rarely had to import anything.

OK, then I'm going to wait on that fix before I import my stuff... I've got WAY too many notes to deal with that 😛 but meanwhile I've learned enough Dendron to know what I need to do with my existing notes to make that import go smoother... I'm kind of excited that I'll get real wikilinks (instead of what Azure DevOps wiki refers to as wikilinks... and tags!!!... and references/includes too, if I want 'em
