Request for Comment, In this case a Proposal for a complete Rework of how the Graph works, behind the scenes in Dendron. Things like Okay how do we store this Graph so that we can easily query / filter it to draw the view. How do we render it, how do we make it possible for users to set colors to Hierarchy’s or Schemas Should we differ between the Hierarchical edges and the Link or Reference edges.

When I tried to create a page from an internal link between notes, the file got created, but no headmatter was added to the top of the file. How do I have Dendron generate headmatter for a new note when created by clicking on the link from another page in the database?

just to clarify, you had a wikilink to a non-exsistent note, and you cmd/ctrl hovered on the wikilink to create the note? and the created note did not have frontmatter?

Yes, at @User 's suggestion, I did that, and it added it to the note in question. I also had another link I had added but not created a note. I experienced the same symptoms of the missing headmatter, but I was able to generate with the the Dendron: Doctor command. That's a decent workaround until the team can figure out what is not quite right. Given that I just started using it in the last 48 hours, it could easily be how I am using Dendron that is the problem more so than the tool itself.

I'm starting out using to collect and organize notes for what is my final class for my bachelor's degree, but I hope to use it for much more than that... It looks very powerful and flexible. It also looks Othello-like... Easy to get started, but it can take a long time to master everything; lots of features to grow into.

I've enjoyed using Dokuwiki in the past for building documentation, and I often use a hierarchy within that tool to organize notes, but switching between web pages and view/edit mode just doesn't fit rapid note creation well. I do recommend it for collaborative documentation, though.

I can't seem to reproduce this behaviour though. I have a note that has the following content

and I don't have

new.md

as a note. When I cmd + hover on the wikilink it creates

new.md

with the correct frontmatter. Were you doing something along that line or do you have a more specific context to when this happened?

could you try creating a new note with this method and immediately run the Diagnostic Report? (if it still doesn't work)

I noticed the same behavior as hikchoi, that Ctrl+hover on an orphan link creates the new file without the click (is that the correct term, orphan? or is it dead link?)

A couple more questions from a .NET dev who has been using VSCode since before v1.0 but just found Dendron this weekend (thanks to Floss Weekly)

1. is it possible to have the workspace load the root folder of the git repo instead of the vault folder... I need my .editorconfig, markdownilnt.json, & cspell.json to be found and would prefer to not have to put them in the vault folder

2. when I tried to import from my current notes (an Azure DevOps wiki... in a private project, of course), it didn't ignore node_modules, and it only went 2 layers deep, it didn't recurse my folder structure, which in some places is as much as 4 subfolders deep... is there a setting for that or so I need to do some re-org before importing?
