Why would you want to make the switch? Is Obsidian not enough? 🤔

I like Obsidian - but - I am spending quite a bit of time in Visual Studio as I study software development as a hobby. I like trying new things - but - realistically there is nothing wrong with Obsidian. I’ll follow both solutions and see where they go.

How can I open a wiki-link using the keyboard? I have bound dendron.OpenLink to Alt-O, but when I cursor over to a wiki-link and press Alt-O it says 'Nothing selected'. If I select the content of the wiki-link, Denderon says that the full path of the wiki-link minus the .md does not exist.

@User I can open links by using VSCode's "Go to Definition" command (bound to F12 for me)

I am trying to include templates with my new schema - I was hoping that each sub topic would launch with its own template, but no template besides the default is being used:

If I recall correctly it doesn't work if namespace is set to true

I use templates only in the journal and that works for me

@User Ive been using Obsidian to manage my entire file directory and Dendron to manage my most pertinent notes. Now that Dendron is supporting vaults in different folders and soon will be importing directory structure, Im planning on using Dendron only. There are just too many crucial features in VSCode, including dragging tabs across windows and workspaces like stickynotes, that I'll miss if I leave vsc. Part of my workflow includes shuffling browser tabs and notestabs into piles on the desktop like you would do with paper, in order to keep related things together and unrelated things out of view.

Here is an example of me using VSCode like virtual note notepads. Here I have a "notepad" open to take notes on Discord conversations, and another one to take notes on what I'm working on. VSCode make it easy for me to open a related note in Dendron and drag it to whereever I want to to be or organize it however is needed.(I'm using Autohotkey to keep the notepads pinned on top.)

Just a note - in the instructions for References doesn't mention the ability to skip a number of lines, such as

Is there a plan to support hashtags and then searching and filtering on them? One thing I like to do during meeting notes is to tag things with #followup, and then quickly search and filter by these to execute these items or move them into Todoist.

I use Todo items (- [ ]) for this together with the todo-tree extension. Another option would be linking i.e. having a snippet to insert [[tags.followup]] and then use the Backlinks for that note

@User skipping lines is known as reference offsets. the docs are here https://dendron.so/notes/f1af56bb-db27-47ae-8406-61a98de6c78c.html#note-reference-offset dendron has a lot of features at this point so it can be hard to keep track of 😅

I am wondering if it might not be worth a dedicated tree of tags and the instance where they are found. Anyway - I am sure you will think of something cool.

@User a tree is in the cards. we are also planning on exposing tags/backlinks in the editor so that it is easier to query when you end up with a lot of them

@User i have a similar usecase but instead of using hastags, i have all next steps under # Next at the bottom of my notes. This way, i can use wildcard references to quickly pull them all into a single note like this

It's not perfect yet (https://github.com/dendronhq/dendron/issues/363) but might work for you as well.

One of the things I'd like to deal with is a collection of audio from a series of week long classes that I've taken from Tom Brown Jr's https://www.trackerschool.com/, want to extract to notes are sections of the audio, applying the Amoeba pattern . Any ideas, workflows?
