sorry to hear this. I'm curious about a couple of things. Why no vault? That root vault is set up automatically, I think. Did you take it out?

Just trying to figure it out myself. Were you able to restore ... or get it working properly?

Also, what is the process to restore a vault from a back up? Or to create a back up

we have an upgrade process for older versions but it looks like it didn't work in your case. sorry this happened

a vault is just a fodler on disk so backing it up is copying that folder. you can restore it by using
    Dendron: Add Vault
and specify the path of your backup

I thought so. And, that's why I love Dendron.

And, in @User's case. The version of Dendron didn't use vaults and the new one does... How to get the files back into the new vault?

copy and paste the files into the vault and run
    Dendron Doctor

I tried using just the path of the workspace and its popping back up right now, I could have just done that wrong.

Will do! Ran doctor anyway and its not bugging me. It works basically perfectly (no other issues so far i've seen) even with this error @User so lowkey non issue

I am looking around the documentation and can't find anything much on the Dendron Doctor. That might be a nice video explainer / tutorial to post

ah - and the command line 'Doctor' has some additional features, relative to the "Dendron: Doctor" plugin command.

@User heads up that the frontmatter variable substitutions just came out in the latest release! docs here: https://dendron.so/notes/ba97866b-889f-4ac6-86e7-bb2d97f6e376.html#frontmatter-variable-substitution let me know what you think. the custom header wasn't able to make it into this week's change but should make it for next week!

Awesome! RE: the custom rendering of "status" badge that we discussed previously - I could render the frontmatter data invisibly as data-attributes on a div near the top of my markdown, and then have my header import a bit of custom JS to seek out the div and render something custom into it.

@User hmm, that should be dooable today. you can embed html into your markdown and that should just work. might be worth having a native way of doing this sort of styling inside of dendron directly if it does

ah, the header comment was just me being greedy and thinking about doing a data visualization that uses some JS rather than just emulating what Maggie has directly 😅. I knew regular HTML survives because I use that to make responsive image wrappers, but assumed that executable JS would be stripped out if I had included it directly
