that's on the roadmap. it doesn't currently

I’m using Dendron at the moment in such a way that the hierarchy is closer to inheritance

Well I’m using it to model a project in which the hierarchy is more of an inheritance chain.

how is that working for you? do you have a sample hierarchy that you could share?

@User Let's say I have 100+ notes, if I change my schemas, will they automatically rename?

If not, do I have to manually change them?
  • k

    09/08/2020, 2:42 AM
    you can run
    refactor
    to rename them

    i used refactor to update
    3000+ journal notes
    😅

    journal.{date} -> daily.journal.{date}

using Dendron for class notes for now, expecting daily usage in the next couple weeks

    Do I need to add
    daily
    or
    journal
in my schema if I create journal notes?

I’m not at my computer right now but it’s working well so far. I’m in the early stages of helping map out an RPG campaign but you could map out a framework in the same way. Class B inherits from Class A but you’ll also want to reference standard library items using [[wiki links]] for backlinking.

@User only if you want the
    book
icon to show up next to the name. schemas are not required to use dendron but they are helpful if you want to make sure your hierarchies are consistent

@User got it. well, happy to hear its working for your use case. do let us know if you run into any limitations

    > hierarchy is closer to inheritance What do you mean?

Like with programming, Class B inherits or extends Class A. I’m not at a point in my current project where I’m documenting things that are not tied together in such a way right now.

    The closest is
    world.kingdoms.towns.[town name]
and in that case I have more of a branching structure with a few back links between towns or kingdoms because of shared history or geography.

Which is maybe not the expected use case of Dendron

So like the hierarchies is kind of a extension (extend) to each another
  • i

    imalightbulb

    09/08/2020, 3:07 AM
but isn't this the expected use case of Dendron?
  • i

    Like my hierarchy:
    a.phy.static-electricity
  • i

    imalightbulb

    09/08/2020, 3:07 AM
    academics -> physics -> static-electricity

    What's the difference?
