For whatever it's worth, I just asked my spouse, who's been a front end developer for 6 years, whether someone should start with JS or TS. The response I got was "TS is great, and I love it, but JS is everywhere while TS is only used in some places. So I'd start with JS, then specialize with TS only once it's necessary."

If you prefer interactive learning, I've done some of freeCodeCamp 's Responsive Web Design tutorials and really enjoy it: https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn The Responsive Web Design one introduces JavaScript https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/2022/responsive-web-design/ , and there's also a JS Algorithms and Data Structures one that looks good https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/javascript-algorithms-and-data-structures/ If you prefer to learn by reading guides, I've heard good things about https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Learn/JavaScript All of the other MDN docs have been really useful for me, but I haven't done much with JS yet myself.

With this site, click any tiles you like, it’ll let you test it in browser or in your current editor right away. https://vscodethemes.com/

Given that OP is familiar with C in past, familiarity with types might make the learning curve a bit smaller. I think I’d echo the rec that starting with plain JS is ok, but one need not wait until a sense that one has “mastered” JS before moving onto incrementally adopting TS, especially since the type signatures on VSCode APIs use many advanced features like generics. Typing a functioning JS library is a good way to learn, later on going through collections like https://github.com/type-challenges/type-challenges can help if you need to lookup recipes for specific concepts

It’s neat that VSCode infers ts types even for js source files, so it pays off to be comfortable with reading them early

Perfect ! I am astigmatic and the fashion of the dark theme, beyond the hype (funny for something as old as the world), I find that it does not help my business. In my case, the clear theme imposes itself with force and evidence and above all with a marked contrast.

if by any chance anyone felt in the mood and had the time to help me figure out how to fix the issue I described here: https://github.com/misprit7/GoodKnight/issues/1, I I would be very grateful to him! I aim to take over this project to make it mine but it doesn't even start 🙂

You are in a dendron community. those combined with sliced bread, wheels and concrete are still far behind the awesomeness of this awesome tool

Some people do use Dendron along with Obsidian or Logseq, @codemuncher , so it's not an entirely "either / or" scenario.

so... it's not about how good is dendron compared to it, they are different. dendrons main idea is it's concept of hierarchical note taking as it's primary means of association. obsidian primarily encourages linking your notes via tags / backlinks, so it still creates a hierarchy in many ways which people refer to as Maps of Content (MOC). honestly.. i do think dendron is better, but i can see a case for obsidian. i have used both. i also have a friend who started with obsidian, and used dendron who liked the latter much better. dendron is also open source. i feel like obsidians strong suit is in a therapeutic sense. when you get into that whole zettelkasten community, and you are trying to create these really compact zettels of information, and link them together. it's something that obsidian encourages because it lacks so little form. but this lack of form is also what makes it hard to use with many notes and where dendron handles it better by introducing some structure.

I know barely anything about logseq but their task management looks very nice 😋

Yeah it feels more natural but Dendron is still a young beast.

I personal like Dendron as a CLI tool for PKM to supplement other note editors like Obsidian. It works really well in addition to whatever note taking system you might already have.

I'm not sure I totally agree with that. Take Logseq, its on-disk organization differs from Dendron in many ways. Its task management is much more advanced and suggests that if you mix 2 management modes, you risk breaking cogs, etc.

Is there a possibility that this feature (defining custom latex macros) be included in a future release of Dendron ?
