There's a comparison of Dendron with some other tools here: https://wiki.dendron.so/notes/b33d1803-6e4e-418f-a269-c4d4bde967cf/ If you have any specific questions about Dendron or note taking, feel free to ask!

has anyone tinkered with using vs code live share as a google docs / similar alternative? if so, does it work well?

continuing along the line of trying to use a more collaborative / real time experience for designing / editing docs, and utilizing dendron as the storage/organized backbone to hold those docs

we've done it internally to work on design docs inside of dendron. works reasonably well

Just the idea of how the bottom of the book, or reference section is a bunch of neatly named refactoring principles which follow a hierarchy/pattern. No specific ideas, Twas just a skim, but it was reminiscent of your lang hierarchy. One interesting idea for reference material like this could be taking full advantage of “sibling travel”. I don’t use that hotkey too much, I think it’s cmd + alt + bracket? As a quick way to look through the refactoring options

Where do you ask your Q's about "normal" stuff, like how something in Windows isn't working? Pretty sure everyone here is on the bleeding edge of tech, but sometimes you have dumb questions, and there seems to be no simple route online to find answers any more. Sort of piggybacking on the recent discussion of how search is all but useless nowadays because of ads and the proliferation of AI spouted garbage that winds up at top of SEO.

Oh man, I especially hate it when you get a stackoverflow answer that doesn't work for you, and when you check the other search results they are all full of those stackoverflow clone websites that just contain the same answer. Honestly I have no idea, I'll sometimes ask on Reddit if there's a community around the thing I'm having trouble with

Example: I've spent at least 10 hours trying to figure out why my speakers are crackling - but everything on the internet is utter nonsense, and all channels I've asked do the same stupid "here's 17 possible ways to fix it I hope it helped please come again and click my like button thank you I hope this helps other people and here's 72 other possible problems you might have and..." uuuugh https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsHelp/comments/uu9zat/speaker_poppingcracking_when_sound_startsends/

Oof On the other hand, I've seen that happen before due to power saving. My old laptop's speakers would crackle every time the something started playing, and disabling power saving solved the issue. Not sure how to do that on Windows, or if that's even the problem though.

I am not sure if I could ask this here, but I am curious to know how the core team of Dendron get to ship updates on a weekly basis. What’s the process/methodology like? How they go about prioritizing features or bug fixes and estimating the same?

If you’re already aware of any blog post or video where it is well documented, please help to share the resource links. Thanks!

I'm not sure if there are any blog posts on this already, but it would be a good idea! The Dendron handbook is public though so you can read about how we handle a lot of things: https://handbook.dendron.so/ In short, we have weekly meetings where we'll discuss what areas we're focusing on. Prioritizing bugs is handled by the "oncall" (a rotation of team members), who will assign important bugs to people. Other than that, everyone handles prioritization and task management pretty independently. Everyone works on every part of Dendron, so there's a general sense of ownership and people are happy to take up any bugs or improvements.

In one of his latest videos (

), Tiago included Dendron in his list of recommended note taking apps:

could be that org-mode/emacs are too advanced for majority of his audience; I'm surprised he included Dendron as there is no Foam or other vscode extensions.

Hi everyone, I would like too know if it is possible to create custom latex commands using \newcommand that would be available accross an entire vault. I checked almost all markdown based note taking apps and I never found one that has this feature except ... Obsidian, which has a plugin called latex-preamble https://github.com/pokey/obsidian-latex-preamble-plugin. But I don't like Obsidian because there are too many plugins. The documentatio of KaTeX mention that this is possible. I would like to move from hardcore LaTeX to .md for my notes and scientific work but without my latex macro I just can't : writing equations gets too slow !

is there any plan to allow for some organization on the sidebar for dendron published sites? i know that a lot of documentation sites, for example gitbook, allow for organizing the sidebar in a way that feels like it's really manageable / easy to find what you need. i'm wondering if there is a similar solution for dendron. i think one 80/20 might be just allowing the sidebar to be default expanded so for example in the image i posted, each of those sections with subsections would be like a root level note, and you can specify a depth (default of 1) to view whats under it. just curious on everyones thoughts here

to fully address my concern, i find that in my own dendron markdown wiki, that people dont know where things are. it's because they would need to click open the notes in the sidebar, i think. i could refactor my hierarchies and split it up a bit better probably, but i still think its not as nice as a view as it could be in the sidebar
