I've tried several times in the past year so I had a bit of priming on the basics. That certainly helped. When I first tried it with vscode I was baffled as to why the extension overwrote "ctrl"+"c"/"v"/"x" by default with no explanation. There is a setting to toggle this waaay at the bottom of the extension's settings The breakthrough (or straw that broke the camel's back) was to use the settings-sync extension between vscode-insiders and vscode. that way I could use vscode and vscode+vim on the same workspace. If I came to a keybinding hitch that I didn't want to solve in the moment, then I could switch right over to the other window. This also meant that I could track the evolution of my settings using version control :D... Most importantly, there was no more fear that vim would break my concentration and burn up mental energy at inopportune moments. After a couple of days of ironing out kinks (including adding a .vimrc with "imap jj ") I started to see net improvements in my editing efficiency. now I'm just using one of the standard vim cheat-sheets to gradually introduce new skills.

I love using j/k to navigate through my mail and such, but I really don't find modal editors intuitive. I think Vim's brutal minimalism goes too far when compared with the Sublime-style command palette

I'd really like to see a VS Code option that disables extension/default keymaps and just lets me figure out what I find comfortable -- I spend my entire day in this tool now haha

when you start using vim, everything looks like a modal editor interface... 🙄 i think with all things, there's a balance to be had. modal editing works great for most cases but extra context helps a ton. vscode is where i am most of the time now 😅

Some of the early computing interfaces had a foot pedal, so they were called
    point and kick
    interactions ( CTRL+F in here: https://www.are.na/blog/hyperland-intermedia-and-the-web-that-never-was )

I'm not sure which channel to use, so I'll post it here. Something I quite like about Obsidian is this plugin: https://github.com/tgrosinger/slated-obsidian It adds recurring tasks, which is really cool. However, I mainly wanted to point out its command to move tasks. Here's a little screen grab showing what a moved task looks like.
