I've never had an issue with the broker being more recent, though I will say that I've also never had an agent more than 3 versions behind the upgraded broker. There's probably a cutoff in that regard.
c
Thanks for sharing Nick. I am probably looking at being a bit more than 3 versions out for a short period of time. You ever see any docs that talk about that cutoff?
n
Like if you have agents on older builds that use the old WEM ports, you definitely don't want to upgrade to a newer broker because that communication will break.
Nah, I've never seen the docs state that myself. I know that I've had WEM 2005ish clients connecting to 21xx brokers at my last place just fine.

The ports is a good shout. Hadn't thought of that. Think they are 2005 currently so should be OK. If I remember right it is pre 1912 the ports changed.
n
Yeah, the new port was in use as of 1912.

Think wem is load balanced via netscaler on the new ports 82xx. No other obvious blockers so gonna give it a whirl. Rollback at the ready😁
n
Yeah, if it's already load balanced on the new port, you're all set. I forget which build it is, but imagine it's well before 1912 at this point, but you also shouldn't have to deal with the SQL AAG steps when upgrading. That was such a chore getting a DBA on the line to failover the DB, etc. when doing upgrades. Now we just kick off the install and put our feet up on our desk.
