there are many people in World of EUC that are part of resellers... I guess the 1st question is where are you located

I'm from VC3. We are HQ'd in SC, but have offices all over. SC/NC/GA/TN/FL/etc/etc
So, not sure where Mid Atlantic you are, but you certainly have some solid choices from anyone here from WorldOfEUC

Yeah a lot of great partners here i'm sure could assist you. We are one (Choice Solutions) These days location isn't as much of a concern, it's more so what you are looking to accomplish, and making sure the partner is able to help service those needs and provide both technical and advisory oversight as needed. With the fast pace in change across all technologies in the EUC eco system you will want to talk with a Partner who has a good understanding of that eco system if possible. This way you have someone to lean on and bounce ideas off of. Some Folks are just consulting partners, others are both consulting, and managed services to provide additional operational support. We have been on a few of these interviews and I think it's a good idea because it allows you to talk to a few different partners and see which ones are a good culture and technical expertise match. A good partner should feel like an extension of the team, unless you of course are just looking for licensing only that's a different story. Just some thoughts on the topic. Hope that helps, feel free to ask any questions of course

I agree, that’s why I’m looking around.

publicly you can see Citrix let go of a lot of the Sales/Marketing and will be leaning on the Partner eco-system more which I think is a good thing for customers in the future. Sales teams were incentivized to lead with the most expensive options and not selling you solutions that best fit your needs, creating a lot of shelf wear. A good partner will sell you a solution that best fits your needs today, and talk to you about future plans but not over sell. Relationships always payoff long term and doing the right thing by the Customer so think its a good change. Cool man, did the right thing posting here thats for sure! Good group of folks!

Are you just looking for licensing, or for services too? A lot of people will be trying to convince you to go with CSP licensing soon
s
You saying CSP licenses are bad/undesirable@Mike Streetz (O_P) ? Genuinely curious. I feel like there is a lot of benefits to CSP (assuming nothing has changed recently)
m
This part: "Sources have told The Register that Citrix has started telling customers that perpetual licenses are not in its plans, and that attempts to secure extended support for such licenses have been rebuffed."
o
Correct. Perpetual is going extinct industry wide. Not just Citrix. You could insert any company name there. Pretty much every company has seen the light and knows what subscription/term licensing means to the bottom line. Makes sense here. But has nothing to do with CSP vs CSA as CSP has always been subscription but difference being CSP you are billed in arrears for only what you use which many enterprises like anyway because that model lines up with the true consumption based model like public cloud, Microsoft SPLA, etc. The big issue is supportability (as partner owns support then) and there is no CCU model in CSP
j
@Oz Zy makes a point about industry move to subscription
r
Looking at you, BMW...
👀 2
o
@Ryan Gallier ha, so true. I have an older model myself, but yea, I saw the uproar when they started selling the heated seat subs.. lol. Even they figured, hell these guys paying everything else under the sun in their house as a subscription. why not get in on that action. For our cars, we already have the other subs for remote start, finding and basically LTE connectivity. The heated seat move though was quite something...hahah
r
yeah, i hope people stop buying BMWs now. That's pretty low.
m
I’m not saying CSP is bad, but if you’re on concurrent licensing then you can’t use it with CSP and you might be convinced to go with it anyway. You need to do your own math is all I’m saying.
Some places get a 3 to 1 advantage using concurrent because they have 24/7 VMs and 3 shifts a day with overlapping shifts. That can get expensive without concurrent
r
yes, this is an excellent point.
o
correct, Any CSP move as I mentioned above is U/D only
