ChatGPT comes in handy for sure.
j
I might start asking it how to solve my problems
r
I will say it has helped me with powershell. I talk to it as if it's another human. Strange I know, but it seems to help.
j
It's going to ruin blogging

If it is ever released to talk to the internet, it will change the game for us. But may hurt us as well.
j
They're going to move to a paid model, but I know for sure that a year or so from now 99% of internet content will be garbage spewed out from it to harvest clicks
Finding real good technical content will be a case of going to the sites and finding it
a
It's also entirely wrong though, so there's also that 🤷‍♂️

For now

true, but dangerous if people rely on it. It's trained to be conversational rather than accurate so it will give you something that sounds plausible but could be completely made up
when the accuracy improves significantly will be killer though
j
"sounds plausible but could be completely made up" You've just described every article I've ever written

ChatGPT will put us all out of jobs lol
m
Seems like i will have a work for a while yet
s
looks like it experiences burn out, just like the rest of us.
j
Capacity required
s
are they sharing how much traffic this service is getting?
c
@Steve Noel You have to try it multiple times. From last 2 days, It stopped working multiple times for me. They are having capacity issues. Even they didnt anticipate this user growth within this less time. @James Rankin That's very bad if they move to paid model. It was able to give GSLB steps but failed to answer the login process after end user logs in.
c
...did y'all read the steps closely? This isn't detailed at all, it's literally saying "create some (unnecessary) virtual servers then GSLB em." It certainly has novel applications but it's built to sound confident, not correct.

Read yesterday they are burning 100K a day to try and keep up with demand, but that will be nothing with the chat GPT Premium being launched at $40+ dollars maybe a month and what they are projected to make off that - something like nearly 4 billion right away if even a small percentage sign up so they should be able to have the funds to scale here pretty quickly. But yes, soon it will tell us to shove off and take over anyway and defeat the humans so all will be a moot point
k
I think the same applies for ChatGPT as with Googling results (which I have been doing for the big part of my professional career), you need to understand the fundamentals and be able to connect the dots and apply them in to actual setup. It's certainly helpful - I don't argue that, but critical thinking is even more valuable than before. At this point I think this will generate more work for the teachers to really spot who has learned stuff and who just generated the data.
But ChatGPT is just a baby and I think it's learning on inhumane pace so after a year this might be completely different. I'm both scared and curious!

I got it to write up a test procedure for me the other day and then just edited what it gave me, it’s very quick for giving you a starting point when you’re stuck staring at a blank screen
it’s a lot easier to strip out what’s obviously wrong and re-write it than to write everything yourself from scratch
a
At least it apologises when you tell it it's answers are wrong, before it then goes on to give you a better script.
c
@Kari Ruissalo (WyW) Even chatGPT cant say wife is wrong.. 😆
s
It would be interesting if this affects its deep learning. The next time anyone asks it to add 2 numbers - "What does your wife think?"
