Have you tried configuring it as Disabled instead?
The local policy must have been configured somewhere? Registry maybe?
s
I set i to unconfigured and after a reboot it‘s enabled again.
k
Try disabled instead
j
It might tattoo the Registry if it isn't in a Policies key. Try what Kasper said
s
I tried with disabled, but was enabled again after the reboot, crazy. were are the local policies in the registry, in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies i can't find this setting
j
Not sure where Google Chrome policies go TBH, you can probably find them by pulling apart the ADMX and ADML files for the paths

d
search the registry for "ExtensionInstallForcelist"
s
i only find it in the user hive, deleted it but appears again after the reboot with a different GUID HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\{F8F7837E-C438-4F14-B904-F0FC0D73AD8A}Machine\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\ExtensionInstallForcelist
I uninstalled chrome and the policy still is recreated after a reboot 🤷‍♂️
d
and gpresult shows no AD Policies?
j
Yeah you need to do a gpresult and see where this is coming from
s
gpresult says that the setting comes from the local group policy not from an ad policy
j
Can you delete the local group policy files?
s
sorry but what do you mean with the group policy files, the local admx in C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions?
d
No, James means the actual configured policy objects, not the templates. They can be found in C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy and \GrouppoliycUsers

s
i emptied both folders C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy and \GrouppoliycUsers and after the reboot the policy is enabled again...
j
Nuke it from orbit

run MMC.exe as admin, File, Add/Remove Snapin, Resultant Set of Policy (RSOP). Local machin local user. Can you see the GPO there? It will display from where it is installed.
is it not just an app on the machine?
post your RSOP and GPresult
