About time they did that
Oh I see another one in your screenshot I didn’t know. Memory limit. Usually I smash it with WEM, but not all clients adopt WEM.
Todays a good day lol

Great find!

Does it set the same name registry value? Even though Google and Microsoft call all their policies different names, the mostly set the same values just in different keys. I have started using the MS Edge security baseline, apply it to a PC, then export the values. These can then be applied using GP preferences as a baseline for Chrome and other Chromium browsers like Brave & Vivaldi. I try to just push Edge, but some clients still insist on other browsers.

People are stuck on chrome that’s for sure.

Just tested. In this case they are setting different values, so guessing implemented differently. \Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge SleepingTabsEnabled=1 \Software\Policies\Google\Chrome HighEfficiencyModeEnabled=1

we moved from 'install whatever browser you want' to nothing but Edge on the network and haven't looked back

Too many vendors seem to tell clients that their stuff only works on Chrome. Doesn't matter that we tell the client that Edge is basically Chrome and show that it works. They still want Chrome.

Here's what I say to get people to get to move on Edge: -One browser equals smaller profile, less bloat -Sleeping Tabs (well I can't use that one anymore!) -Better Office 365 integration -SSO with email to get your bookmarks synched automatically -IEMode with automatic redirections on legacy websites -Silverlight support

Yes, I use most of those. Edge Seems to have lower memory foot print, only one to patch, IE mode, etc. Some clients listen. Some don't. Some just seem wedded to the idea that Chrome is best, some listen to their vendors who insist on Chrome. I have occasionally just considered installing Edge, changing the icon to Chrome and see if anybody actually notices.
j
at least it's not Firefox, no BCR support with that crap!
I've heard the excuse this website only works with Chrome a hundred time and proved the client wrong every single time.
s
I have been testing other browsers, Brave and Vivaldi look interesting and you can apply most of the same Chrome/Edge policies. Opera is Chromium based, but doesn't seem to have group policy support.

When you tell them storage cost will double, you may get their attention.

Brave sounds cool, the less analytics we send to Big Tech, the better.

Hahaha change the icon. I did that once for a small subset of IT folks.

Did anyone notice?

Yea after a few days. It was some guys I worked with , so I knew it was safe. But at first they had no idea. Now with users, I would bet they wouldn’t even know.
Where I messed up is I didn’t try to move the favorites over, if I would have did that chances are they would not have caught on for a while haha
