Which adm version?!
n
13.0 52.24
I'm assuming some new functionality was introduced in 12.1 or something and the parameters/config save is related to it but I'm not having much luck in the googles figuring out what it is
d
Nope this is not a normal behavior
n
What's odd is when I go into ADM and look at the events for that ADC instance, it only shows the most recent param/save events, even though it's happened 3 times prior.
m
Is ADM service enabled? (show adm parameter in cli should tell you) i've disabled it on all my upgrades, but i'm wondering if that might be the reason. Can you check the timestamps on the ns.conf files in /nsconfig/ to see if they really get saved so often? ADM service: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-adc/12-1/adm-service-connect.html Data governance: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-adc/12-1/data-governance.html
n
Yeah there's a new ns.conf file every 30 minutes for the last couple of hours
Citrix ADM Service Connect is disabled
m
the set appflow parameter is to configure the global appflow params, does that CMD happens before each save?
n
yes it does
m
Are there anything in the log beforehand? I don't have a good idea why it would modify the appflow params, i haven't seen it other places so far. I can try to ask someone from the ADM team if no one else have a idea.
n
I opened a ticket but it got assigned a low priority (it is) so I assume I wont hear back for a bit. It looks like ADM has set itself as an AppFlow connector (I havent gone about getting HDX Insight or anything plumbed up yet) so I thought maybe it was some byproduct of a partially incomplete config or something.
I compared the 11.1 based ns.conf file to the 12.1 ns.conf file....the 11.1 based ns.conf file has nothing in it regarding "appflow" when searched, the 12.1 file has it as an enabled feature, creates the collector, and enables AppFlow events. I'll try disabling the AppFlow advanced feature and see if that fixes it.
m
So if you do cat ns.conf.NS11.1-xx.xx | grep appflow in the /nsconfig/ folder nothing is returned?
n
correct
m
So did you manually add monitoring after the upgrade? It sounded like in the initial post that it was enabled before.
n
It's monitored by ADM but we don't have AppFlow configured
m
So how did you monitor it before, if you didn't have a collector configured? because a grep appflow, should so something like add appflow collector bla bla bla
n
By monitor I mean it is an instance added to ADM, SNMP is configured, we alert for the presence of certain events, etc
Disabling the AppFlow advanced feature had no effect FWIW
