under enterprise apps within azure portal what do you have set for the user attributes and claims ? user.userprincipalname , user.firstname user.givenname ect

@c4rm0 - I was being daft, it was the samaccountname field and there is a preset claim for that... I just added/updated and it worked after the changes propagated 🙂 "_onPremisesSamAccountName_"

btw, does this apply only for SAML or is it possible to add similar to OAuth token?
