ADM Service connect is not for on-prem ADM, it is only for the cloud based ADM service. I haven't yet tested the effects of configuring it in a mixed environment like that though.

The service connect is a consolidator of traffic and would allow bypassing firewall restrictions if the ADCs had ports blocked between them and ADM. I did not know you could point the service connect to an on-prem ADM.
c
ADM Service Connect is not the same as the ADM Agent/ADM Service Agent. ADM Service Connect is baked into the ADC firmware and is currently used to send basic health/metrics directly to ADM Service when enabled/configured.

ok, well that doesn't explain the behavior in the customer environment. They're running 12.1-61.19 and if this option was disabled they weren't seeing any SNMP traps on the on-prem ADM
this is a high sec environment so the traffic towards internet is completely dropped, but I would not want to see ADC initiating any suspicious/unnecessary connections towards internet
