Not that i'm aware of.

Another reason why Citrix should make Profile Management support on top of FSLog Profile Container, that would be awesome
j
Good idea
n
I’d prefer Microsoft simply adding that capability so that I don’t have to use CPM at all.
😆 2
r
i concur, actually
j
I actually like the features they’ve added to CPM. Like the hybrid option. 🤷🏽‍♂️
n
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate CPM. I just love FSLogix that much more.
k
Well a combination of FSLogix and CPM would be a very good match
the best of both worlds
@Nick Panaccio CPM has outlived it's purpose, no doubt about that. But if Citrix would allow CPM on top of FSLogix Profile Container, we can still use all of the good stuff like granular include/exclude of files and folders. The current redirections.xml is just not up to par with what CItrix has in CPM
👍 1
r
that is true, but they are pretty quick on their development cycle. Maybe one of the guys can see this
k
otherwise I intend to bring it up at PTEC EU later this year, if I get the chance
j
CPM short of has this now. Also Citrix doing this would be at mercy of Microsoft.
CPM has OST, search, and large file containers. Need to do some more testing on what all the large file container can do.
k
In my opinion Citrix should really just stop any further development of these features, they are probably 6-7 years to late
j
They still need to maintain a solution in my opinion. Also not mention this could get into a finger pointing scenario if there was an issue.
k
I agree with you on the pointing scenario 🙂
j
I agree on being able to use FSLogix as storage option but disagree on killing the product. Give customers options.
k
No, not killing CPM but stop any further development of the container stuff they are doing
CPM should still be an option
j
Yep that’s what I meant, not killing container stuff.
Microsoft could change something anytime and customers could be in bad spot also.
k
True
But I have heard Citrix reps., at least here in DK, on many occasions say, that Citrix needs to prioritize development on core technology, and in my opinion the container feature of CPM is not vital to that particular technology
n
It’d be different if it offered the full feature set that FSLogix already does. They’re still playing catch up. It may happen someday, and those without a Microsoft EA or the desire to go to a third party utility will benefit.
j
It may offer a lot of it. I need to finish testing the new large file container feature recently released
k
The large file container feature is still not able to handel the entire profile right?
handle*
j
It’s not but does it need to? I like the hybrid option of files and containers.
I just don’t like that you can’t split out.
k
Hmm...added complexity?
j
Of having both?
k
Yes
To answer my own question...not really 🙂
j
From a multiple site/dr not really
k
It's almost no different from having CPM on top of FSLogix
j
Files are easily replicated vs containers
Maintenance also
There are trade offs for both
n
I wonder if one of them will expand to include ProgramData. I know that’s a pain point with Start menu and UWP apps. App Layering User Layers is the only solution for that one, AFAIK.
j
I cloud also easily exclude the containers in CPM from replication without splitting out.
Since they are cache and easily recreated
n
@Kasper Johansen It was mentioned in another recent thread, but somebody here is using a PowerShell script to dynamically create the redirections.xml file at logon. That may be worth investigating.
👍 2
j
Writable Volumes should function similar to User Layers.
I can’t type lol
k
@Nick Panaccio hmm...that may be worth a look, but I still need that wildcard feature though
n
I want to say that it was @David Ott ‘s script?
d
@Kasper Johansen you should check out my script
b
I’d like to see WEM manage/enhance FSLogix... possibly managing/replacing all the custom grooming scripts that are out there.
