maybe a bit scary to use your DDCs as file servers but in theory I think this should be possible

I have a post coming out on this sort of thing shortly - cloud cache will allow you to do this but it will impact logon and logoff times

@dready I know what you mean and normally I'm with you. But on the other hand, how does a SMB share harm my Delivery Controller?
@James Kindon I would like to read that. I know there is an impact, that was stated in the article I linked. But impact is relative. Can you name an example?

@Marco Hofmann i don't have exact impact figures at the moment to give you categorical numbers (and i am pretty sure mileage varies based on a few factors) but 100% the impact is significant based on the scenarios i was testing (Azure Blob and local SMB shares) - it was enough that i took notice and comments were made by those testing - but again, no specifics but will have more in the next few weeks once testing kicks back in full flight - benefits may outweigh the negatives depending on your customer i guess

My current plan is to just do it. I will attach a second disk to both Delivery Controllers, to have Server 2019 SMB + ReFS in place and Configure Cloud Cache. Then I tell the customer that this is a special test scenario and we will test a few weeks. If it was a bad idea I will just switch over to the fileserver I don't want to use. Simple as that (I hope).

keen to hear how your testing goes with CC in general
