Hey David, you need to tier the rules so that you exclude everyone and then add the process. It's a little confusing.
d
Thanks. SO first rule Everyone - not applied, then process.exe apply?
l
Yep. That should do it. Otherwise the rule applies without exclusion, I had a similar issue when I started working with them.
d
I created a folder (C:\Hideme), created a new hiding rule to hide it, applied to Everyone NO, Notepad.exe Yes Folder is immediately hidden when apply the rule, no matter the order in which filter rules are applied 😑
l
Interesting. I'll have to lab it to test David.
At E2E and about to head out for my flight.
d
Safe home 🙂 Hope you had great time in Lisbon
l
Cheers David. It was great. My session was well received.
Actually I am literally sitting bear Jim Moyle. If I can bend his ear I'll ask him.
d
Please do 🙂
Looks it is working upside down 😞 hide folder, apply erveryone Yes, notepad No... folder is visible, but hidden from inside Notepad. Bug or "design"?
l
He's currently engaged but I'll take a look when I get home.
Sounds very odd. I'd say it's a bug.
d
No, better testing is just not working both ways
l
Jim says everyone no at the top, then a user group and then the process.
d
So, this will hide the folder to the group, not just while running the process. No useful in my case. I'll re-read the documentation, but it's miserable...
l
This will hide the folder from the group only if notepad is running.
Jim was unsure if it was a machine wide.... Notepad running.
d
nope, this just hides the folder in any case independently if notepad running or not
l
Okay interesting. It shouldn't. I'll lab it.
Wrong thread, lol. Just confuse.
Microsoft have properly broken this, it was working I have clients using it. I can't get anything to work in my lab now. Rumour has it, there is a new version out in a few days.
