Noprofilecontainingfolder setting in GPO
d
What Benjamin said, and put %username%.%userdomain% in the base path for the VHD Location setting
(as in the end of the base path.... ie \\FileServer\Profiles\%username%.%userdomain%)
j
The Registry/GPO setting stores it in a non-SID folder but you already need the username in the path somehow - so using the environment variable as above would achieve that when combined with NoProfileContainingFolder set to 1
j
This makes sense. I will test this out.
j
You can also "flip-flop" the name (FlipFlopDirectoryName Registry/GPO value) which puts them as USerNAMESID instead of SIDUSERNAME
j
We tested that out. Customer declines to use SID. We put SIDDirNameMatch as %username%.%userdomain% but it still uses SID. and yes, they had pattern and match the same value. I will try to base location and no profile folder to see how that works
j
Weird. Wonder if the SIDDirNameMAtch needs to be REG_EXPAND_SZ rather than REG_SZ (will test sometime if I can)

@RSRevord here is where you want to follow

If they don’t use SID in the folder path or directory pattern match, how will they have handle user renames - maybe they don’t do any?
