Yes it does Mike, just exclude the folders you are redirecting in an exclusions XML file.

@Leee Jeffries i have a customer with local profiles & roaming of appdata enabled on their RDSH farm (old crap way before my time). This week I’ve migrated the profiles to containers. What would be the best way to remove AppData? Exclude in redir.xml & remove from GPO?
l
Spot on Eric, that how I would do it. At that point it will be discarded at logoff.

I've run into issues redirecting stuff out, I thought the general consensus was not to do it if you're using fslogix?
like redirected start menus don't seem to work at all
l
Depends what you're redirecting. I've got scenarios where it's working.

Say you have an existing 2012 R2 or 2016 system w/MS Roaming Profiles and AppData Roaming redirected via GPO and you need to add O365 Container for Outlook + search indexing. Since FSLogix normally stores the search data in AppData\Roaming\FSLogix\WSearch - I'm wondering if it'll work with AppData Roaming redirected via GPO? During the early on beta of search for multi-session that didn't work and we had to disable GPO folder redirection for AppData Roaming. So curious if anyone has made this work or I might have to lab it again.

Hi Mike, so in this scenario and this is today. I would use GPO, I would exclude AppData and then add a redirect rule for the search folder to a network location.
I would not use gpo*
m
Do that if you had to keep AppData Roaming redirected to a network share?
l
As long as you exclude AppData from the container it will be fine with gpo.
m
O365 Container should never have AppData in it though - scenario I'm throwing out is w/only O365 Container and MS Roaming Profies

I have an implementation at present that are using folder redirection and FSLogix containers. We've excluded the folders that are being redirected and it all works fine. They had Ivanti previously and the migration has been pretty seamless, ivantoli replays settings in lto the locations and FSLogix captures it. We must tweaked the profile state key in Ivanti so profiles are not removed.
Oh okay Mike, I see. In this scenario, no that wouldn't work. You would need a profile disk.
