Like user change rate with data?
d
Yep, like what percentage of the VHD file changes each session. I've not been able to find anything online about Windows profile change rate for traditional roaming profiles (assuming an FSLogix VHD would mirror that) or anything specific to FSLogix
k
I think it's difficult to pin point an exact percentage, it depends on the applications.
d
Definitely, and I'm not looking for anything hard and fast... Just a rough idea.

I'll reach out to a couple of my customers running FSLogix Profile Container in production, they may have an idea of the storage usage over time
j
lots 🙂 - mostly within the O365 container usually but the data might be somewhat skewed due depending on file system under pinning it and the search index configurations etc @Leee Jeffries may have some potential info?

It's a tricky one because it genuinely depends on your apps. To gather some data it may be best to analyse your current profiles using a scheduled powershell script and dump that to a csv so you can graph that out as the rate of change. Happy to knock something up and release it. Should be pretty quick?
You could then use that to predict the rate of change. It will however be different in every location depending on users behaviours, what's redirected out, what apps are in use and what they write. If we got this rool to analyse we could also predict write with cloud cache @James Kindon

Dare you to measure it with chrome and/or edge chromium in the profile and active @Leee Jeffries ... great idea though, that sizing guidance is going to be an interesting kettle

I'll add it on my list if things to do.
d
This is for a greenfields environment (@James Kindon you will know the one) so there's nothing existing to measure - the question was asked of me by the storage vendor, and I've never investigated it before so thought I'd ask in here. @Leee Jeffries I found your blog post talking about storage iops for FSLogix, so that was useful thankyou!

No probs, perhaps give us a ballpark with what apps they are using and someone may be able to help with this. If I have any clients I certainly will.
