My experience has been it's aggressive. However that doesn't mean it's not good. @Nick Panaccio just converted all his to Citrix optimizer
n
It's way more aggressive than Citrix Optimizer, that's for sure. Lots of stuff that most people already setup anyway, though. Up until recently, I was using a modified LoginVSI OSOT template in my environment. Like Ray said, I converted the entire damn thing into Citrix Optimizer so that I could run a single tool. I haven't looked back.
IMO, pick a tool and stick with it. Having to convert that template was a huge pain in the ass.

Gotcha. Yeah, Optimizer seems to be just fine. Do people use the community ones, in addition to the default ones? I haven't really tinkered with those too much.
n
It's worth noting that I personally do not care about rollback features in either product. I use App Layering, so my rollback is simply removing that layer version.
r
Good to know I wasnt the only one who see how aggressive it is. It's a good tool, but I'm a Citrix guy all the way.
n
My old Citrix Optimizer template is in the community if you connect your app to it.
It's basically a W10 1809 template that has App Layering settings (Rob Z's old App Layering optimizer template).
Most of the templates are very, very similar.
r
Cool, I'll take a look. We're not using app layering yet, but I hope to in the future
n
I'm a fan. It's got some quirks, but it has been very good to me.

I did an SCCM course a few months back, with a guy from Citrix, who was an engineer for app layering. He was telling me all about it, I was most impressed.

Every time I use a vmware optimizer template for a citrix build something breaks, I’ve given up
it’s nowhere near as easy as just clicking optimize like with the citrix optimizer
r
Well. I think I'll be passing on it then. Thanks for the insight!

VMware OSOT did have issues with specific settings in the past. Not all of them were commonly used, though. It was fine for me, but I wanted to consolidate. I also think that Citrix Optimizer is being developed in a more admin-friendly fashion, if that makes any sense.
