Only by looking at C states on the processor. What Hypervisor Steve?
r
OpenManage?
c
HPs you can change the power states /powermanagement via the ILO check the drac
Thats for HP servers via ilo Drac might have something similar
r
Dell has openmanage and DRAC. it should be in openmanage. This should be installed in any environment. ESX/Hyper-V/etc

DEll's iDRAC is quite versatile and allows for a number of custom settings. Depending on your usage, there are a number of BIOS parameters to consider when configuring a PowerEdge or blae server, see for example this article, as well as potentially also parts 1 and 3: https://www.mycugc.org/blogs/tobias-kreidl/2019/04/30/a-tale-of-two-servers-part-2

Thanks all. Checked all over idrac, couldn't seem to find them. Just went into the bios and did a manual check. Also confirmed vsphere was set appropriately too.
t
Might have to boot into the BIOS manager to make such changes; not everythign can be done vs. the iDRAAC client, unfortunately.
r
no, iDRAC cannot, but generally OpenManage can. I feel like no one is hearing me in here. 🙂

This reminds me - Need to check c-states and power management on some Xenservers on HPE Synergy blades. I know certain vendors like to be 'green' these days.

Indeed Mr Carson. ;-) I can give you some commands to check from inside XenServer. Best to check VMWare too.
