You add a drive from hypervisor after MCS is deployed and it will remain after updates. The other option is the newer MCS RAM cache which adds a persistent drive like PVS as it uses the same driver.

Hi Jarian, thank you for your reply. I was thinking about adding a persistent disk once MCS catalog is created, but is this supported by Citrix ? for the moment the environment is in 7.15 and i don't think the WC drive gets formatted with this version. Hoped it would be possible in some other way.
j
7.15 still has the old driver so wouldn’t have it. As far as supported by Citrix this outside of Citrix functionality so I don’t see how this would be an issue.
What’s Lakeside’s guidance on this? This can’t be first time they’ve come across this.
a
Was thinking about adding another disk to non-persistent VMs, whether it would have any impact on catalog maintenance (or any other aspect of it) that wouldn't be accepted by Citrix.
j
It doesn’t have any impact on Citrix catalog operations. Citrix has no knowledge of this disk. It’s at the OS and hypervisor level.
a
I'm still awaiting on someone from Lakeside to discuss the subject but as far as i could found infos int technical docs they suggest only the approach with persistent disk (but in the document they mention PVS only). So guess I'll have to wait to see with Lakeside directly.

Wonder if they support a file share or another method.

I'm about to test on my own will let you know if it works..

@Asmir it works with a SMB share
a
Great news, thank you... I'm about to test it ..
A little follow up on the subject, I confirm it does work with a SMB share for mcs non-persistent machines, a little tip just make sure agent trusts certificate used on systrack server 😉. Thank you both for your replies.

Yeah, missed to mention that. I’m not really a SysTrack administrator but more of a data analist. Glad we could help @Asmir

We're all confronted to some challenges we don't deal with on a daily basis I guess. It's a great community. Cheers mate 👍

Guys, I'm doing this in Azure with a number of MCS catalogs... I had intermittent issues with placing the Systrack db on a network share so I attached a persistent WB volume... you can only do this via PoSH... its not in the GUI...
