Doesn't Windows 10 have a built-in viewer?

they do but Irfanview is SO much faster. And either way, the built in viewer for Windows doesn't natively work w/ .heic files unless you install 2 apps from the store (one of which they are now charging $.99 for for some reason)

TIL that somebody actually uses HEIC.

unfortunately we're an insurance company and have field people that use BYOD iPhones to take photo's and have clients that are now sending in photo's for their claims w/ that format so we either have to continue to just convert or use this method but that offline installed appx file seems to be doing the trick

This should do it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/heif-image-extensions/9pmmsr1cgpwg?activetab=pivot:overviewtab https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/heic-image-viewer-converter/9n8k5qxzsjnv?activetab=pivot:overviewtab Just tested them :)

@Andrew Gresbach did your company pay for irfanview? It’s not free as most admins still think.

oh really? that i was not aware of! i'll have to check w/ the other techs here to make sure we're covered for that but thank you for the heads up!

Don’t laugh when reading the EULA ;)
