Were you told you MUST convert to subscription licensing?
c
Perfect timing.. I just got off, from phone with our partner. We were exactly discussing about the same. They did not say that exactly, but eventually all customers should go that route down the line. Citrix has closed (or will close) all other options except subscription model. We don't want to move to subscription licensing, we are on perpetual on-prem license and want to continue that by purchasing SA. what our partner says is, if we have 100 perpetual licenses as of today on LTSR, we can purchase support for now, but in next year or the next year, citrix may only provide subscription licensing model. Also, as of today, we cannot get a new perpetual license. We have to go with subscription model only if we need new licenses.. we can only purchase support for whatever perpetual licenses we have as of today. Not sure how many more stupid decisions does Citrix come up with.

Citrix asked me to share this with you. https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX281515
Q. Is the ability to renew Customer Success Services (CSS) impacted by this announcement? No. If you own perpetual licenses with active maintenance, you are entitled to renew your Customer Success Services agreement for the unforeseeable future.
c
Yeah, as I said earlier, we can renew our current perpetual licenses support. User count is increased now. We need to add new perpetual licenses in very near future. That is not possible anymore. And yes, citrix may have announced it last year, but our renewals are this year, so our management started looking into it from last one month. As price for subscription license model is almost twice as on-prem perpetual licenses, we dont want to move to subscription model. On on-prem we cant get new perpetual licenses.. 😞 Also, without adding any special/new features, why does customer have to pay almost double the amount to move to subscription model? what additional benefits do we get if we move to subscription model.
l
Isn't the subscription model inclusive of Citrix Cloud? I thought their goal was to move customers to Citrix Cloud. Do you use any public cloud workloads? If so, 1912 LTSR is the last supported version on-prem, and you'll need to use Citrix cloud to go forward with them.
c
AFAIK, when we move to subscription model, we have to create a cloud account. But we only use the licensing part of cloud. We have AWS env for citrix but not for VDIs.
