Those UI changes are going to fit right in with the end users
n
The centered Start menu is the worst part about this, for me. Zero chance we even think about looking at this until W10 is near the very end of extended support.

Considering the amount of grief we got with the start menu changes in Windows 8, I am amazed that MS hasn't learned anything
n
I'm amazed that you're amazed, bud.
k
😄
n
I hate the entire Start menu now that I look at that video again. I hope that can be customized.
k
I find my self amazed about a lot of thing regarding MS at the moment
Another thing, the current WS2022 preview does not have the UI changes like Windows 11
n
We found two new 2008 servers today in our environment...........
😮 1
k
2008? Not R2?
n
They were R2, but still, lol
k
I still see 2003 servers out there from time to time
n
Ignoring those items, visually, it does look a lot better - especially File Explorer.
k
Yeah, I like the icons
It also looks like it will work even better on a tablet
n
You can snap windows by hovering over the maximize button, too. That's neat. Hope they integrate the PowerToys stuff.
Yeah
k
I keep going back to that start menu image. It is going to take some getting use to I think. Right now it looks like a bit of a mess, but hopefully it will look better once I have Windows 11 on a machine in front of me
n
I guess they're going for the portal look.
k
Yeah, and right now that doesn't look so good IMO
oh, and I really really hope it will be easier to customize compared to Windows 10
n
I actually saw a post on Reddit recently from somebody showing how he customized the entire W11 Start menu. Looked like an XML file, but he was able to really customize every last detail.
If they made an editor for it, that would be ideal.
k
Oh yes an editor would be awesome
n
Well shit, I should have know this was coming since it looks like these screenshots from 9 days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/nt2r58/windows_11_start_menu_custom/
Now THAT I can work with, since it's more closely resembles 10.

Looking good

Ugh, don't know what to think. Some is new, some is throwback material to ancient Windows versions. Also, skinny scrollbars are a PITA to use.
n
I didn't even notice the scrollbars until now, ugh.
I'm going to wind up clicking exactly 1 pixel to the side of them
