Hi, we have an active MS support case about this. We got a private fix from them, fixing this search indexer issue on RDS2019 and AVD (Windows 10 20h2).
MS told us public fix is coming soon (weeks, not months).

we’ve got an update from MS:
@James Kindon Looks like you will have to update your article soon.
Summary & Suggestion:
===========
The listed sessions cannot be logoff completely since the logoff routine got stuck when waiting for the SearchIndexer.exe (Windows Search service) to handle the logoff notification. Within the SearchIndexer.exe, there are lots of threads pending since it has a lock by waiting on a critical section. This causes the logoff notifications cannot be handled.
There will be a hotfix released containing lots of changes and updates to SearchIndexer.exe in RDP environment. Currently it is scheduled to 8C hotfix (KB5005102) which may release this week. We will wait for this hotfix ready and install it.

@Vadim Gonzalez I will believe it when I see it and will be more than happy to update if it fixes - that article gets hit like crazy
searchindexer is still crashing in our environment Server 2019, but we haven’t seen sessions stuck on the server and waiting for searchindexer to be killed for weeks now. So, not completely fixed, but there are improvements. Definitely less Service Desk calls.

quick update. Still happening. a couple of times a week. checking for stale sessions every now and then and then kill searchindexer on these workers. Would be nice to have this fixed.
