It is available for on-prem, however it's not easy with an MS only solution
Look at AppVentix ๐Ÿ™‚
โคด๏ธ 1
I am currently looking at AppVentix for MSIX, but if I remember correctly @James Rankin has some experience with AppVentix
n
I do have this company name in my notes.
j
AppVentix gives you an on-ramp for MSIX, it does MSIX deployment as well as App-V (and FSLogix too!)
n
We are a big App-V shop, and I was thinking App Attach could be its replacement.
j
Also dirt cheap
If you're on App-V 5.1 then AppVentix is ideal for moving to MSIX
n
We haven't seriously looked into it yet, though. I assume we'd have to create MSIX packages based on our current installs
We are on App-V 5.1, yes
j
Deploy your App-V packages without any infra, start converting them to MSIX, deploy them through the same console to your testers, gradually work towards full MSIX. All with a GUI instead of command-line
I'm sold on it
n
We deliver our App-V packages in Citrix, and would probably continue that.
So this can actually convert installs to MSIX packages?
If it's that much of an all in one solution, that would be terrific.
j
No, you'd need something like AppCure to convert them (or you could just do it yourself)
Do you deliver your App-V packages via Citrix into desktops? or just apps?
n
Gotcha.
Just via XenApp.
But I would consider allowing them to be delivered directly into my Citrix Desktop image.
That way those users didn't have to go through a double hop.
j
That's where AppVentix would shine, delivering direct to desktop. You could also use it to deliver the apps into the published apps image too, and then just publish them directly from the command-line
Get onto Bram and get yourself the community edition
n
And that basically sounds like how we publish the App-V apps now.
d
Yeah download the product, it's great an free to be used on 5 machines so enough for demo setups and for the real lazy people Bram even has test packages that can be used to test deployments.
