Just going to toss this out to see if there are any ideas how to make this better now... I am in the process of upgrading SCVMM agents on Hyper-V hosts, which should be a simple process. However, I am running into issues on the Host servers where the WinRM service won't stop when requested. It is currently bundled with other svchost processes so terminating the process isn't an option I have available (access denied). As I fix the service I am splitting it out into its own svchost process moving forward, but it's slow going as I have to clear all the guests and restart the host before I can upgrade the agent when the WinRM service won't stop properly. It has been about 75% failed to stop when requested. Hosts have been running for about 5 weeks, since last round of patching. (They will start getting new patches soon and the rest can probably just be done as part of that process, I was just hoping to get the agent updated really quickly before starting into patches.)
