I don't think it's possible to roam via O365 unless you're logged in, but you can always use a PS script to backup the bookmarks to a flat file in their profile. I do that with my users since we are barred from syncing content per InfoSec.
I save to our H: drive unless it doesn't exist, in which case it would get saved into their FSL profile. I changed the default directories for Chrome data via GPO, so you might have to adjust the location of the bookmarks file and save location.

Would't it be sufficent to just copy the file "AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Bookmarks" to H:\ on logoff and copy it back on login?
n
You could do that, too. I only convert it to Bookmarks so that the user can manually restore on their own via the Import method.

Ahh ok. Thanks m8

MS Edge has the same limitations as Google Chrome. Because of saving all Browser Data to local Appdata profile roaming and folder redirections will not work preserving browser profile data. We opened a ticket for that topic at Microsoft last year. Only officially supported way for roaming browser profile data is activating MS Edge Enterprise synchronization as a O365 feature because of above mentioned limitations. But of course you can do some scripting magic if it is seamlessly enough for end users. @Nick Panaccio has suggested you one possible option in parallel while I was typing my answer. 😉

you can do that using Avanite Webdata Control or Ivanti Browser Management. Even restore them to other browsers and use all the other functionality that Avanite WDC provides like cleaning the webcache, managing cookies, browser plugins, redirect URLS to the correct browser etc.

You can roam the favorites without roaming the entire Windows or Edge profile. We have ours synced to our home drive. Take a look at the following GPOs. Once enabled you will have a profile.pb file which is on the order < 1mb in most cases. If you have O365 in the mix, you need to force on-prem sign-in which is in the GPO below. Browser sign-in settings Enabled Browser sign-in settings Enable browser sign-in Configure automatic sign in with an Active Directory domain account when there is no Azure AD domain account Enabled Configure automatic sign in with an Active Directory domain account when there is no Azure AD domain account Sign in and make domain account non-removable Enable using roaming copies for Microsoft Edge profile data Enabled Only on-premises account enabled for implicit sign-in Enabled Set the roaming profile directory Enabled Set the roaming profile directory

@Josh Bilsky That looks very promising. I checked it in my lab and it works fine. There's even documentation about it 😄 https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/Edge-Enterprise/blob/public/edgeenterprise/microsoft-edge-on-premises-sync.md

@Dennis Hirsch Yeah sorry for not linking to the docs lol, you picked a good time to look into this function because up until Edge v94, if you had O365, there was no way to force on-prem sign in, in typical MS fashion they took a function (roaming profile.pb file) of Chrome and made it overly complicated in Edge by requiring a "sign-in" for it to work
