It's really on by default? The docs and description in the policy setting definitely don't make that seem to be the case.
I dunno, I manually enabled it on my W10 admin box via local policy, and once I did that I saw this in the address bar: And CAPTCHAs worked.

I based that on the policy documentation:
I'm disabling it in a QA environment today. It may be the specific site we're connecting to that utilizes reCAPTCHA, or it may be another settings. Naturally since it's only happening in Citrix and the collective security and network teams don't think it's them we have to either fix it or prove it's not the new version of Edge.

Gotcha. If you know of a public site using CAPTCHA that's failing, let me know and I'll test it on my config to see if I get the same result.

I was testing with https://testrecaptcha.github.io/ and the reCaptcha check we have in a tax site used by employees. I activated Strict mode in Citrix and it's working for me (you are correct it doesn't seem to be on by default). I didn't test for myself as other team members tested and verified what other teams were saying about it not working. Oh well, I got caught up in the sky is falling emails.

I mean, I would never put it against Microsoft to enable something by default and not document it, lol

I get numb to the blame Citrix mentality of other teams, so I just assume I have to fix it. The issue did occur the day after we rolled out an updated image in Citrix, so it's not a stretch to assume that was the cause. We had just got over a month plus of issues related to MS Access and network shares that Microsoft did introduce into Office. We updated office and now the problem is resolved. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/error-in-access-when-opening-a-database-on-a-network-file-share-6cbc1560-62c2-46e7-9980-d079a46f5acc
