Worth noting that Snip & Sketch does not exist in the image, as I rip out all UWP apps.
b
I use Greenshot or Snagit at my customers
maybe a solution for that special user?
r
I have it, but I believe it's a UWP app.
s
Is your user sure that Snipping Tool was running in the Pub DT and not locally?
n
He swears it was in Citrix, but I have never had the Snip & Sketch tool installed in the image, and the way he described it sounded more like that as opposed to the Snipping Tool.
Greenshot wouldn't pass, as we’re basically told no open source stuff from InfoSec. They're also not going to pay for Snag-It. The Snipping Tool works in the image, there's just no keyboard shortcut which is his complaint. Though, a minor one, quoting him.
s
I frequently using snipping tool on my local device to take screenshots in my remote sessions
n
And that works fine for me, so I have no idea what the issue is for him.
s
yeah, and if the clipboard is pass-through, he should be able to use it in the CVDA session
j
Might have been OneNote? It has a nice screen snipping tool built in - just a thought
n
Actually, yes, he specifically called out OneNote.
j
that would be this guy
n
Hmm, I don't see OneNote in the taskbar, either. Perhaps that's part of the issue.
Well, this is interesting:
This is OneNote 365 (2108, SAC)
j
Might have to go reset those combos
n
I've been trying to figure out how to do that, but have come up short. Found a site that shows how to set a new keyboard combo, but that setting didn't work, either.
j
https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/onenote-screen-clipping-shortcut-key-change/ this one? I've been using greenshot for years now so haven't been keeping up
n
Yep, that's the one. Changing it to any other hotkey doesn't work. Weird.
Gonna try one more thing.
I would love to just move to something like Greenshot, but InfoSec has a hard on for denying anything open source.
They see those words, instant denial. Crazy.

Well, I found one workaround. Disabling the native Win+S hotkey then allows OneNote's clipping tool to work.
So if he doesn't use Win+S for Search, this will probably work fine for him.
