I'm talking about when the Legal Notice flashes up at logon - my red lock screen turns blue. So it would be an HKLM setting, if any
n
Ah, not what I was thinking of then.
j
Sorry, my explanation wasn't very clear......too much going on today

I had an issue where these cerner 724 downtime devices now in a different OU and on Windows 10 the red screen would go from red to blue within a second but for the desktop background, in the end I couldn't figure it out so I ran a GPO report one of the sickest I've ever come across - by this guy evotec.xyz was able to breakdown every policy and figure out where it was being overridden - https://evotec.xyz/the-only-command-you-will-ever-need-to-understand-and-fix-your-group-policies-gpo/ takes 20 mins to run and the report is more accurate if you're a DC admin. if it helps.. boss

Yeah I've used GPOZaurr a lot, typos aside, it's a great tool
d
Lockscreen/ logon screen background image is removed?
j
No, the lockscreen works. When the user presses Ctrl Alt Del, the "legal notice" screen appears, and for that, the background becomes blue. When all your branding is red, it looks rather odd
d
asking because then an easy workaround would be to add the backgrounds again but then just in the solid RED color , might just do the trick
ahh ok, will do some digging, had to put all colors to dark grey years ago on the intensive care department. Might still have the documentation or runbooks to do that.

We have a GPO that sets a particular company-themed Background image for the Lock Screen... Dimensions are 1920x1080... You could create an all-Red Background image and use the GPO to force the Lock Screen to use it?
j
It still changes to blue when the Legal Notice appears though
d
that's not working for the legal notice part, it flips back to blue
I tested by loading another theme, blue color stays at legal notice :(
did you find a solution? You must have seen that youtube video showing that it is possible.
j
Video?
d
Ha, you’ll cry if you see it because it shows that you can at least show a background during that legal notice. The item hasn't got an answer though. I'll post a link Lateran when I'm home
here is the source: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2242274-custom-background-for-legal-notice-in-windows-10 and the actual video showing the magic:

So it can be manipulated, but how....
