we wasted so much time on acrobat and reader we moved to foxit and kofax and haven't looked back
💯 1
we run software last updated in the early 2000s and its more compatible with enterprise than the crap that adobe produces
no space for that in my life
o
Gonna try this on my home lab, Adobe in the enterprise is such a pain
Worked! Thanks, @Arnaud Pain!

Nice article @Arnaud Pain. Do you also know how to save the login credentials for the "pro" users when used on non-persistent VDI?
n
I can't help but laugh at seeing people just abandon Adobe for alternatives because of how difficult they make it to be functional. They're a big enough company that this should not be the case, yet here we are.
I prefer Foxit myself, as well.
a
sadly we HAD foxit but had to move back to Adobe after a small group of users complained enough
for anyone thats tried this already, this universal installer how does it handle the Adobe PDF printer? since thats a licensed only feature. ....does it install it but you just cant use it unless you're signed in or somehow hide it until then
d
awesome cant wait to test this out. users complain about memory issues with the 32bit all the time! I assume the user login based licensing works the same way as before and sticks in non-persistant environments..
a
Package has been about since June I think. Have it in at one client and seems to work ok. Customisation wizard now has a "Virtual environment support" checkbox which just sets the roamidentity and roamlicensing install flags to enforce user based licensing. When non licensed users try to use the PDF addins/printer they just get a license issue error with a note to open Acrobat to check license.

cool thanks for the feedback! thats what i figured it would do. we've used PDQ to auto pull down reader updates and have to manually download the msp for acrobat to push out ....i'd imagine they still are using the msp update method?
a
Copy code
Install-Module -Name Evergreen
Get-EvergreenApp -Name AdobeAcrobat
d
Thanks @Aaron Parker. to confirm the evergreen install comes with the appropriate vdi checkmarks and roaminglicense reg paths right?
@Deyda will you incorporate this into neverred?
d
Do u mean 64 bit adobe installer. This is implanted since 2-3 versions.
m
@Andrew Gresbach for the users who complained that adobe went away Kofax fixed them - only good feedback and very enterprise friendly.
d
@Deyda darn the time i dont read patch notes lol. thank you!
a
That Evergreen command will just get you the latest MSP etc.
Install is up to you
