Like elon said, your job is at the office. accept it or quit, your choice. this was never an issue before covid complacency.

If layoffs and disgruntled employees at this time were a signal of the beginning of the end for a company, nearly all of the tech companies I like would be going down. So no.

Just do what I do and refuse to RTO.....problem solved

Apparently no one likes this new prior Broadcom executive, CEO Tom Krause.
j
Nobody likes anyone from Broadcom, past or present, based on what I've heard
n
Yeah, we’re about to get screwed on VMWare
n
thinking about asking for a 5 yr ela quote, we only have essent+ so it's only $1K per year so can i lock in that price for 5 years?
j
We've already been screwed by them on other products, to the tune of millions.
n
That’s what they want, lock in the those long term deals
Handcuffs
n
$5K is nothing for 5 years. We spend more than that on lunch
n
Yeah 5k is nothing, we spend millions like James
j
We have to spend 120 million just on Azure in the next couple of years. Should be fun spinning up all those test VMs
n
Lol wth is your budget
If that’s even a word for you
n
$120M? Da fuk????
j
Yeah and that's just Azure 🙂 when it comes to investors, there is no such thing as a budget...well, certainly not an upper limit to it, anyway

Friend of mine run a small DC in Azure with some Citrix, file servers, dc's, etc, etc,. Standard 150 user small biz with about 15 locations on vpn. No security appliance or anything, the standard azure firewall. His invoice is $26K per month (does not include 365). I got 2 hosts with vsan in a colo for $1K per month, all the 1/1 bandwidth I want and can support more users on 2 very large hosts and buy a host a month if i want for his Azure pricing. I just don't get it.....

Cloud is premium, ideal for burst but not for long-term. We've also got 200 million quids worth of on--premises tin to utilize as well
n
Friend of mine who runs our local vmug with me has more people leaving the cloud than going to it. costs are justifiable
j
First rule of cloud - what's your exit strategy?

n
totally agree, if you need burst, swipe that credit card
n
We don’t run any prod infrastructure in the cloud yet, but have moved more and more apps there.

I just have to say that as an EUC professional, I feel it is my job to advocate the whole work from anywhere on any device mantra. As long as you fulfill your work commitments, that should be all that matters. Covid proved its possible for most people and that ship has sailed. With respect to the Elon comment above, there are obviously jobs out there where this isn't workable, such as manufacturing, but this is not a one size fits all world. Those who can work they way they want should be allowed to do so. The crusty old rich dinosaurs in the board room need to get onboard.

We’re trying to move our company to that model. Big initiative for 2023, and looking forward to leading it. We shifted to 100% WFH for IT Engineers and the increased flexibility has been a huge improvement for QoL. Commuting in a major metropolitan area accumulated up to a month of my time a year.

Our Citrix usage increased 500% and has been integral in our current hybrid environment.
